RUSH SOLICITATION: BATMAN: THE TEN-CENT ADVENTURE CUSTOM EDITION

DC Comics is pleased to announce a rush solicitation for a special, customized edition of BATMAN: THE TEN-CENT ADVENTURE. This edition, available only to retailers ordering 10,000 or more copies (in increments of 1,000 copies), features an overcover with a 3" flap on the front on which retailer information will be printed. All orders for this edition are due November 15. This expenditure is not eligible for co-op.

The BATMAN: THE TEN-CENT ADVENTURE Custom Edition is available to all retailers with accounts in good standing, and may be used as a giveaway through local newspapers or other distribution channels, as an in-store giveaway with purchase, or any number of other ways. This special edition is available at a net cost of $.17 per copy, which covers both the customized overcover and the comic itself.

DC recommends that retailer information on the cover flap include the following text or variations thereof, not to exceed 500 characters (including spaces):

* Free Comic Book Courtesy of (store name or logo)
* Stop by Every Week for New Comics and More (call to action)
* Store address
* Store vicinity (i.e. "at the corner of Luthorville and Otisburg")
* Store hours
* Store phone number
* Store fax number
* Store email and website address
* Special offer (a coupon of some kind)

"We see this special offer as a tremendous promotional opportunity for retailers," says Bob Wayne, DC's VP - Sales & Marketing. "We want to thank Phil Boyle of Coliseum of Comics in Kissimmee, FL, for making the suggestion that got this started."

Please see the attached jpeg file for an example of what the customized edition will look like. The other three covers of the overcover will feature advertisements for DC Comics titles including the Bruce Wayne: Murderer?" storyline (which directly follows BATMAN: THE TEN-CENT ADVENTURE), JLA, and THE DARK KNIGHT STRIKES AGAIN.

All text must be submitted to by November 15, and is subject to DC's approval for both business and aesthetic purposes. If necessary, text may be edited for length at DC's discretion.

Store logos may be submitted as an Photoshop tiff file at 300 dpi x 3" wide as an email attachment. All retailers taking advantage of this opportunity must submit their text by email or fax to:

BATMAN: THE TEN-CENT ADVENTURE Custom Edition is scheduled to reach comic book stores on January 2, 2002, the same date as the standard edition of the title.

THE WB PROVIDES SMALLVILLE POSTERS TO RETAILERS

This Wednesday, October 31, retailers will receive a four-color, 24" x 36" poster promoting the WB's hit series Smallville. The poster features the now-familiar image of Clark Kent (Tom Welling) with a red, spray-painted "S" on his chest from the series' premiere episode.

NEWS FROM THE MAINSTREAM PRESS

The October 27 issue of TV Guide included a "The 10 Best New Kids' Shows," which reviews the Cartoon Network series Justice League, saying "...the year's best action cartoon takes us to super-hero Valhalla...the weekly battles royal will appeal mightily to 8- to 14-year-olds."

The "EW Recommends" column in the November 2 edition of Entertainment Weekly includes a recap of the review of I, PAPARAZZI, calling it, "...a beautiful nightmare of a fable" and giving it a grade of "A."

The October 29 issue of Publisher's Weekly includes a review of BIZARRO COMICS, calling it "...funny and unusual."

The November issue of Nylon magazine includes a review of the Chronicle Books title Wonder Woman: The Golden Age, with Tamara Ikenberg writing, "...the smart, rebellious dignity of (William Moulton) Marston and Wonder Woman still soars."
