And now I lay to rest
and give up a good long day,
to wait for sleep and comfort,
which comes in it's way,

And nothing fills my mind,
but emptiness and its embrace,
and this sense of self falls silent
and I turn another page...

As whispers of past and present,
nestle in my ear to stay,
and the worries of tomorrow,
are few and far away,

to live is easy but to die,
and die right and with good faith,
one must do what the heart tells us,
or get ready to face...

the night reflects our souls,
there's worry and there's loss
and to sleep untroubled,
comes with but little cost.

Damn fine
A damn fine poem, sir Wally. I especially like the second and thrid stanzas: wistful, wise, reflective (fitting!), good use of language. There's a blip in the rhythm in the second to last stanza, but . . . eh.

Good work!
