In you alone I found a friend
Whom only you could keep alive;
When darkness showed at daylights end,
It finished us with one big strive.
In truth, you gave up easily,
Though my heart our friendship still contains,
And there it shall remain so tenderly,
Until of us there nil remains.
When the light extinguishes again,
And when the darkness conceals her more,
Iíll press my ear on solid shore,
Just to keep alive our friendship plain.

But since you took that blinding stroll,

Death on me prepared his toll.

In you alone
Dear Cardinal,

I commend you. I am going to learn so much from this site. I write poetry but obviously have a long way to go. This poem is so different to what I am used to reading but it is succinctly powerful. Congratulations!
