I finished chapters 5-7 tonight at just over 2000 words bringing my total to 10,272 words. I wanted to write 3000 words, but I'm reasonably happy with 2000. That's 400 words over the minimum to complete on time.

I'm not so worried about making the deadline anymore. My main concern is with making sure I can keep with it, and to that end I have to say doing this with a group of people has been wonderful! There's just something about the support, even if not all of it's good, that helps keep me going. Thanks to everyone who keep encouraging me to go on - you all rock big time!

And a special thanks to my wife who's putting up with my nagging her with ideas and for he help pushing me to write this thing.

The thing that suprises me the most is how much influence the whole "group" aspect of this project comes into play. I haven't had enough time to properly reflect on that. I hope to unwind when this is all over and sort out my thoughts about that.

Also, I've had a few people asking me why I haven't posted any of my writing and there are a few reasons.

1. I'm too sensitive about this being my first writing that if I get comments this early in the game it could slow me down, or even stop me. Despite how much I try not to care what people think about me or what I do, on a project like this it could totally steal away my confidence. You'll just have to wait to see it.

2. I want to edit it, and then edit it again before I post parts of the story to the web.

3. If this is as good as I hope it will be, I hope to publish it ;)

Once I feel like I'm caught up enough I'll edit some some sections and post them as excerpts to get some feedback, but I have to get a bit further along first.

Again, thanks so much for the encouragement. And to all of you out there doing this too, keep at it!

your writing
Chris, when I first started, I refused to let any read my stuff except for my mom. When she started reacting to my work, wether it was an angry reaction or an emotional one, then I felt confident enough to slowly show my work. It took me a very long time to come out of my shell or the closet sorta speak, but now there is no stopping me. So it's nice to meet you, Chris, and I look forward to viewing your work.
