When I was just a young girl
I had no need to fret
but, now that I am older
I have so much regret.
Please know I always loved
you dad
I thought you hung the moon
I never got to tell you
because you died too soon.
Mom died when I was 14
In the prime of her life
but, you already knew that
you just lost your wife.
I hurt so bad I never thought
about the pain that you went through
but now that I am older
I understand I do.
I think I can understand now
how you must have felt
you did your best you played life's game
with the cards that you were dealt!
It couldn't have been easy
to lose your wife at
such a young age
and, trying to raise a teenager
whose hormone's were in a rage!
But now that I am older
and, raising my own son
I will tell him about his grandpa
and all the wars you've won.
I love you dad!

This is really sweet, and a lovely thing to tell your son. Sometimes death is our only passageway to honesty.

very nice tb51. a moving testatment well strung together. only slight loss of rythmn seemed to be the Line "it couldn't have been easy to lose your wife at such a young age" It still works, but seems a chnage in emphasis or something disrupts the flow a little. (maybe one syllable too few or many). If only there were more like him. By immortalizing him in verse, you have captured more than photos ever could. Made me cry and both my parents are still alive. Thanks, you moved me. m

A great Tribute!
That's a great tribute, for anyone to have.
Tragic, but you've captured it well.
