One thing that I have recently internalized, as I have never truly done before, is to understand how fully the media is able to play its fear voodoo with our minds. Its black propaganda magick is sinister and even a skeptical leftie like myself can fall prey to its power.
Between 9-11, the unWar in Iraq and the creeping brutality of this impoverishing economy, I am as burned out and loaded down with anxiety as any other American who isn't absolutely numbed to these dark events.
l keep coming back to my belief that there are just a few people responsible for putting many of these events in motion; not being closer to the events nor privy to the meetings behind closed doors, I find myself wondering if I'm not slipping into that almost uniquely American paranoia known as Conspiracy Theory.
The American People are on a runaway train. The analogy I present here is my typical representation of the Government of the United States. Only the most unintelligent observer of American society can possibly believe that there is a semblance of National government of, by or for the People. This government is doing insane things that the average citizen would not possibly condone if he or she knew all the factors and motivations behind the government's decisions. After all these decades of examining endless scandals and outrageous contraventions of public will by this government throughout its history, people still believe, in the majority, that this usurpative, patronizing juggernaut somehow represents us, even obliquely.
This cannot be true of a government that spends the lives of the Nation's sons and daughters like water, propagandizing their sufferings like opportunist... politicians and propagandists (for who else would do these things to their own people?).
The above atrocity of which I speak is the 'rescue' of Private Jessica Lynch and the following revelation, however effectively downplayed, that she was not a captive so much as a patient of civilian hospital staff.
They tried to return her themselves to American forces, who then fired upon them that they might return her in the now- bullet-riddled ambulance to the hospital. There, U.S. troops would then stage a completely unnecessary but very dramatic rescue of a woman who clearly presented Army leaders with an opportunity. Lynch is very much the all-American country girl and would become a darling to the Press and the public.
Why not rescue African- American P.O.W. Shoshanna Jackson for the dramatic photo ops? After all, she was also wounded in combat and was in clear danger in enemy hands. The racist mentality in the Army's choice of Combat Poster Child is dear, as is the motivation in their doling out of disability benefits. Jackson, a Black woman and clearly more debilitated by her experiences than Caucasian, blonde, rural farmer's daughter Lynch, will receive 30% disability benefits and Lynch is slated for 80%.
I live under a government that is possessed of absolutely NO morality nor integrity, and that refuses even in the everyday disbursement of its duties toward faithful and trusting citizens to be held to the letter of its own law or regulation.
I find myself beginning to succumb to the fear and paranoia pandered by America's horrible, amoral press because of things like this: the insane, immoral government that has absolutely NO regard for any citizen who is not rich nor powerful.
I believe in my heart of hearts that the Government of the United States, as a policy and as an act of conscious thought, regards the common citizenry of America to be its primary enemy.
Mark my words: the government has neither mercy nor loyalty towards Us, the People. Yet if we don't find a way to gain control of this murdering, parasitic organism, it's going to bring us all down, in its all-encompassing mission to protect the interests of about one hundred evil, vile people.
