Toasted Cheese Online Literary Journal welcomes all writers to enter its Third Annual Dead of Winter short story writing contest.

Stories submitted to this year's "Dead of Winter" contest should follow the theme of the contest title: "The ghost and the darkness." Ideally, stories should be set in autumn or winter, to mesh with the name of the contest. The most original, most haunting stories will be chosen for publication.

The contest opens on November 1, 2003 and the deadline for submission is December 21, 2003. The first, second*, and third* place winners will be published in the March issue of Toasted Cheese and receive an Amazon gift certificate. Honorable mentions may also be awarded. [*Toasted Cheese reserves the right to not award the second and third place prizes if the quality of the entries does not meet the ezine's standards.]

Entries must adhere to Toasted Cheese's regular fiction submission guidelines and to the chosen theme. {please note: attachements will be disqualified}

Grammar, punctuation or spelling errors will count against your entry, so proofread thoroughly.

Word limit is 2500 words.

There is no entry fee for this contest. One entry per person or per email address.
