She has been searching and waiting for the most important thing to step into her life. But it seemed like a tantalizing dream. A wistful wish of an ingénue.

People search in haste. They force themselves to fight with time. Time secretly slips away when you are most enjoying it. Time tortures you when you await something to come or happen. People race with the uncontrollable, they speed with time. And while they do so, they usually miss the best thing life can provide them with.

Her eyes roam about the heavy traffic. Passengers never stopping to even look at the most pleasant morning sky. Dark clouds blanket the blue dome above her. Her eyes still searching, winding through gaps, and made confused by the rushes.

While so many others passed her by in the middle of the city, she stood still as a lost soul, made dizzy by the traffic. She has yet to find what she wants. But it is often when you least expect it that you will find what you have been praying for all your life.

Rain poured and stained her white blouse. She did not budge. She stood as transparent as her drenched top is to others. People might think her a fool but she was not, she is not. She was simply enjoying the tearing sky and feeling it while no one ever pauses to appreciate the small things in life. The small things are usually those that meant the most. Unfortunately, people usually overlook them; they might even choose not to take a closer look. The small things seem too insignificant to waste any time on.

She closed her eyes and allowed the crystal clear droplets tingle down her face, her neck, and her body. The coldness freshened her.

Many times in life she took a wrong path. She found someone else she thought was meant to be but it never turned out to be. She learned her lessons bit by bit. She took the best and worse from the same situation. The most valuable thing she owns is her heart yet she is willing to open it up for others to tamper with. She felt it is important to be sincere. But how many times in life will people return you with the same sincerity you gave them?

As time slipped away, she realized how they are not what they seemed to be. She saw through their facades. They gradually left her, to find someone else whom they thought are meant for them. She wondered if they ever did.

When she was most reluctant to allow someone into her life once more, he appeared. He, with the most to offer. He, with the best to offer. He, whom can give her more than she can give. One that can tolerant you no matter who you are and allowing you to be simply who you are. He, whom had passed her by like many others. So many times in her path, so very close to meet, but their eyes never did caught each other until now.

But it is through the wrong paths they had crossed that made them realize each other’s value. It is through all the lessons learnt that they are made a little more mature to understand and treasure each other. Had they been able to meet earlier, they might not been able to love each other as dearly and last as long as they are now.

Time continues to fly. Each day they discover new things. People continue to search high and low for things they need. They continue to wait and yearn for what they need. Yet the harder they try, that harder it is to find it. The harder they try, the more haste they make. They fail to ‘waste’ time on the smaller things in life that mean a lot. They fail to realize the treasure within something so small that it seems practically insignificant. They missed the important small things while they search for material comforts. Time plays tricks on us. It makes us wait, it jokes on our patience until we no longer feel like we need what was needed. But its jokes on our patience turned into lessons we need to learn to find the most important things in life.

Be patience and let time tamper with your life. Allow yourself to some faults in life, then only will you find the thing you needed most. Then only will your life be meaningful, filled with different hues. Time will uncover the truth you need and bring you to your own treasures eventually.

Excellent !
You're _so_ good at writing short stories like these! You grasped the situation she was in perfectly, and was able to express it clearly.. And you make this and related articles meaningful, which is even better. By the way, thanks for reviewing my story.

short yet satisfying
Hmmm. It's very short, even for a short story, but I'm impressed with the way you crafted the text, and paced it so it felt much longer than it is. The same effect also does wonders in helping to build up the reader's mental image of the scene.

Good stuff. 8/10. :)

Universal Theme
Hope you continue to practice your craft. By the time you reach my age you'll be World Class. Nice imagery of a girl standing alone in the rain. Your prose is strong. The length of this makes it flash fiction, a fairly new genre, born of the internet in recent years. This could be a love letter, if so, he's yours. The themes touched on at the end are huge, universal, 'why are we here' questions. Is it possible for you to expand this piece? You could easily write 6000 words a piece on time, truth and patience. You touched on enough material there to write a whole book! This could be the start. Go for it.
