Secrets. Everybody has them, as does every town…some secrets are just darker than others. Take the town of Greenville for example, just a small town in a small southern state. The people are friendly, for the most part, the days are quiet and there is nothing to fear. Little kids play in darkened woods, parents leave the doors unlocked at night and old people stroll the downtown streets with impunity.

But Greenville also has a dark side, though dark really doesn’t sum it all up, the phrase that comes closest to summing it up would be ‘Pitch black evil side.’ The Occult, rituals involving rape, bondage and human sacrifice. The Occult was powerful; they controlled the town and damn near well the whole state. Though that seems to be the one great downfall though-out history.

One-night things were taken a bit too far and things simply got out of hand. A shroud of death encompassed the small town, a shroud of mist and demons, of death and destruction…of evil and corrosion. At that moment Greenville ceased to exist, at least in our world, and it became part of a sort of ethereal hell. Most of the population died immediately, without being given a chance to survive. Most of those who did survive the initial change died shortly thereafter, weather it be from suicide, being torn apart, or just from the shock of it all.

After just one hour the living were reduced to a small handful of poor souls, fighting simply to stay alive, fighting a nightmare most of them didn’t understand. Most would think that the survivors were the lucky ones, but that’s only if you consider lucky to be in a world of fear and death and blood and constant terror. Perhaps this time around the lucky ones were those already dead, but this isn’t about the dead, this is about the few living ones and their hopeless fight for life.

Welcome to Greenville. Welcome to Hell.

It’s my hometown, enjoy your stay.

A prelude to hell
Sounds interesting, I will read chapter 1. I like the last two lines the best. It certainly sounds sinister, but will chapter 1 encapture me? I will let you know!
