I'm sick of the naysayers who always declare
That the end of the world is near.
Why don't we just throw in the towel?
Attitudes like this just make me growl.

If people would spend as much time making things better
As they do proclaiming that they are a
Of all the things they didn't do in their life,
Then damn, this world wouldn't be filled with strife.

I guess that I would regret my life too
If it wasted away in front of a widescreen boob tube
Contently watching bombs burst in the air.
Come on people, this won't get us anywhere.

Get off of your ass and try to do something about
All the problems that the news media loudly puts out.
Don't just sit there and be passive--is this really the way?
You don't have to be apathetic and accept the moral decay.

If you're the type who was born with a silver spoon in your face
And can't deal with the problems that are so commonplace,
Spend some of your precious money trying to help the poor and oppressed
Instead of trying to get on Joan Rivers'
list of best-dressed.

How do I want my ephitaph to read?
"Here lies a woman who wasn't taken in by all the greed.
She proved to the world that they had nothing to fear.
And she positively proclaimed:

"There are those of us who dare to make our fantasies into photographs: we write them down; we paint them; we act them out--for all the world to see." Susan Sparks--January 1, 1991
