TALKING WITH FISH

When I was 5 yrs. old
I talked with birds.

At 17,
I no longer talked with birds.
I would just watch them fly.

These days I talk to fish
& they talk to me.
They tell me of the stink of their entrails
on my bloody hands.

I tell them I understand.
I tell them I'm sorry.
They tell me
there is a big hook in the sky
for me, too.

I chuckle
& let the fish go.

True
Pretty honest and simply put. The last 2 lines of the stanza three were especially striking.

Visceral
The line about entrails was really vivid and made me quite uncomfortable. It's certainly a poem to provoke reaction.

really good, Bob
You ought to title it "THE GOTCHA GAME"

Very Neat
I must say, very neat indeed. I rather liked it. It was a whim pick, and I couldn't leave without telling you that I think this is a good poem, in subject and execution (heh). Well done, indeed
