everything is off the top
and I'm getting shorter by the day
I can't seem to write
except by writing
and it always has to be transient
no second thoughts
no last gasps
no that is the version
just unadultarated what the hell
I wrote it off the top stuff
maybe it's my background in art
that doesn't last
illegal droppings of litter
adorning corners for a couple of hours
pretty but transient
maybe it's my background in graff
leaving something that lasts
mear moments
or months at a time
and maybe, just maybe it
is life reflected in a passing automobile
that could have swooped my comfortable
legs
right out from under me
but who knows
any which way
it's how I write
and who knows
maybe I am
all right
after
all
