Are you listening Lord, do you really hear
The prayers I send you each day?
So many things are going wrong
I need you to point the way

The roof leaked last week, the carpet got wet
I thought they repaired it, I was really upset!
My tax return is almost due
I don't understand it (by the way, do you?)

It's cold today, almost 5 below
My furnace broke down...wouldn't you know
The plumber was late, he'd had a flat
Then overcharged me, for a thermostat!

I've done pretty well on my own, so far
(I've paid all my bills, haven't smashed the car)
As most widows go, I'm holding up well
But not today, as you can tell

When I was born, you did somethng wrong
You forgot to make me fearless and strong
Listen Lord, for goodness sake
Just this once, can you give me a break?

The way things are going, I'm really stuck
Could you find a way to change my luck?
I'll try not to bug you every day
And thnk only of others whenever I pray

Oh, thank you lord, you heard my plea
You really were listening to me
Just when everything seemed so bleak
You let me lose 5 pounds this week!

Very cute. Loved reading it. Good sense of humor.

This poem has an odd flow to it, but I like it overall. Definately an interesting story. I like the character did a great job of describing her to the reader through her prayers.

Life's like that!
Hey Malthis, thanks for commenting! Life is full of little jokes like that. You can either ring your hands and moan, or have a good laugh at your own expense. (A laugh a day keeps the doctor away!)

Darkraven, trust me, I speak from experience. I was so overwhelmed when My husband died, and felt I wouldn't be able to cope. So many different ridiculous things happened to me in a short time, I began to think it was the norm. I just decided that God was the captain of this ship, and I let him do his thing!

Praise from the deity!
Thanks Bob, I'm so glad I made you smile!
You've been doing that for me, since I came aboard!

You have two choices when life throws you a curve...laugh or cry.
I prefer to laugh (I just hate runny mascara!)

Good poetic flow for some often overwhelming circumstances
that do not flow!
