Immortal Belovéd, why imagine
our love a lover's hell, when heaven's best
and all's right again when Love's provision
empowers us and grants our perfect rest?
We'd do well to love once more, to never
tempt the insolvent coil of our unrest;
or shatter our bonds that need not sever
despite our lover's quarrels, which manifest.
But, like hope, Love overflows forever,
conquers, defeats, and overcomes privation;
and supplies us in spite of our error,
wrath, and want, so we may end desire's famine.
If Love's o'er-flowing and never-ending,
beloved, then we, too, are worth defending.
