Lord, I've just heard that Vince has died
in spite of all the medics tried
to heal the man.

It's not that he and I were close,
we're men of fewer words than most :
I liked the man!

Vince was for me a person whose
consistency made him a used,
and needed man.

He came from good and solid stock;
the Johnson clan were granite rock;
a true, hewn man.

Some I had met way down in Leigh *
in decades past, beside the Sea.
a fam'ly. man.

But Vince was Vince, was his own man.
So , Lord, just tell him - sure You can !
'They miss you, man'.
We miss you man.

* Leigh-on-Sea in Essex , UK home to others of the Johnson family
