You are now in that period of life referred to as teenage years - and you are going to be in this period for the next 7 !

You have come through the boyhood years, and have come through them well - so there is no reason to think that you will not pass through these teenage age years just as well: maybe even better.

These years are important (but so are all the other years too) because they are on the border of adulthood; between you being a boy and becoming a man.

Important - but also potentially exciting years. Not necessarily jump-up-and-down exciting (life can at times be boring: but that is routine, so get used to it) but exciting in the sense of discovering the world around and how you fit into it.

There is no magic formula for handling these years - or any other span of years - and there is no packet-recipe which says 'To make a life-cake, add water, bake for 7 years .. ' and, viola, out comes the cake'. Life doesn't work like that : and anyway, life is not a "piece of cake" - it gets complicated. But what does work is taking with both hands opportunities for good (and there are other opportunities of the other kind*) that come your way, and making something out of these that works for you and for people around you.

We look forward to seeing you in, and through, some of your teenage years.

* When having to deal with opportunities of all kinds, the trick is to be able to tell the difference between those that are good, and those not so good. But upon everyone there does shine enough light to tell the difference. It is a matter of personal response to that light.
