We gathered to lay her in the cold ground;
it was to be her resting place—poor Mom!
Grieving, I sobbed while my siblings were calm;
only I appeared distraught and unsound,
overwhelmed at the sudden loss I found
too great to bear. It was like a huge bomb
had exploded in my life—like napalm!
So, I sat with tears that were profound,
as the eulogy was read aloud to all.
We buried her on a cold, wintry morn;
all were mute, as I felt a gloomy pall.
Among them I wept, so bereft and torn
was I during the funeral withal;
all the while, I felt heavy and forlorn.
