(A slightly altered version of my original 'DEBT' parody)

Because I could not stop for debt
He kindly stopped for me;
His letter held but just one card
Yet future misery.

I slowly spent I knew no haste
The bills I'd put away;
I'd tell myself 'I need (not want)
These things I've bought today.'

Yet soon I passed a tipping point
'twas clear I was undone;
Traversing fields of 9 X 4's
Red as the setting sun.

Or rather red and black
The tone was black the wording red;
'A bailiff's due the ninth of June
At noon' each letter said.

'tis then I paused for life but seemed
A swelling of the ground;
My head was scarcely visible
My body sunken down.

'tis years however now and yet
Feels shorter than a week,
I first cried to myself 'SOD THIS!'
And plumped for bankruptcy.
