Rick Kearns Featured July 12 at Poetry Thursdays, a recurring reading series which takes place at the Midtown Scholar Bookstore.
In January 2014, Mayor Eric Papenfuse named Harrisburg native Rick Kearns as the city’s new poet laureate, the first Latino to be so honored. Rick is a poet, freelance writer and musician of Puerto Rican and European heritage based in Harrisburg, Pa.

His latest collection, Rufino's Secret, came out in December 2012. His poems have appeared in over 70 literary journals including The Massachusetts Review, The Painted Bride Quarterly and Chicago Review. Kearns’ poems are in 5 national anthologies, and 7 chapbooks. He has given readings throughout the US since 1992. He was named Poet Laureate of Harrisburg, Pa in January 2014. His poetry is featured in "The Moon Rides a Black Horse" CD, combining his poetry and jazz performed by the Con Alma Quartet.
