How have you formed me? Let me here declare.
You have formed me from the muck, mud and the mire
and filled me with a spirit that can inspire;
you have formed me with life by giving me air
and showing compassion when all did not care;
you have formed me to strive to go much higher
with the strength of your love that burns like fire!
You have formed me through choice when none would dare
and formed me still more with your heart of gold;
were it not for the multitude of ways
you have formed me I would have grown too old
to live again with renewed life and zeal: I praise
you now for I’m a new man to behold—
a void no more for the rest of my days!

"To have the soul of a poet is to feel with the mind, and to think with the heart."
