The flash of light disperses
A chaotic line immersed in water.
Fragmented feelings rush as one
And all observed by nameless sun.
Comfort bleeds like heavy rain
And fading quick is our distain
As all we knew melts away
Submerged beneath
The reasoned day.

Hurried hearts are drawn in parts
And worried soon by bitter noon.
Vast as black and stopped like white,
We pick apart the bones at night.

Mustard mud coats our seat,
Feelings claw as patience eats.

Across the way the thoughts are crowded
Deep and hard and never rounded
All aboard with glib delight
All on course to vain plight.
Looking inward at the glass,
Fevered dreams hope for past.

On the riverbank we sit
Favouring our own regret.
Passing time with a moment’s care
Recoiling from the brightest flair.
Avoiding discomfort,
Avoiding fear,
Hiding from the worst year.

Remember my friend, despite all you are, all we are, the universe will tick on, long past our departure.
