As a result of the drought, Gov. Jerry brown has mandated that Californians cutback their water use by 25%. I remember the call for voluntary cutbacks during the drought of 1977. There was a popular slogan in those days: “If it’s yellow let it mellow - If it’s brown flush it down.” The response in 1977 was overwhelming, and water use was cut significantly. In fact, the reduction in water usage was so significant, that municipal water providers experienced a dramatic reduction in revenue, and they were “forced” to immediately raise rates to their customers. I suppose the same this is about to happen again.
