Celebrating Autumn

Let us enjoy these days of Autumn’s
Glorious hues of red and gold
With leaves echoing a sunset
On branches tall and bold
Soon they will lie shirveled and spent
As winter winds blow cold

Nature is a fickle lover
Who woos then runs away
To court another fancy
That may catch his eye today
Spring and summer loves
Attest to his flighty ways
Now Winter waits expectantly
As she impatiently counts the days

Let us mourn the close of Autumn
But her death is not to be
For her lover will return once more
Another season is yet to be!

Beautiful, this.

Fickle love makes for fiery passion the next go-around, eh?

I liked the poem but don't understand the references to drinking? Perhaps it's late and I'm just slow...

I think Flame is referring to the quality of the recent spate of poetry being posted by our old friends who have come back to the fold. If I'm wrong, I'm sure she will enlighten us!

RE: Celebrating Autumn
A lovely piece, beaming with Autumn's array of colored brilliance; loved the view you painted and appreciated its message of the season.

Thanks Joe!
Autumn is my favorite season. It reminds me to savor the beauty of these moments in all their glory...nature's salute to all that has come before...saving the best before the coming of Winter!
