So lucky to live in this beautiful Roman city by the sea
People in the streets doing daily chores, but soon we will see something we have never seen before
We are all so happy and full of glee.
The Gods must be mad as the entire earth starts to tremble
This has happened before, we take it as an ominous sign from the Gods and they do not play
The shaking starts to end, soon the Gods are quiet, but the sunshine looks very dull
The it starts to rain but not the water we are used too, seems to be some sort of ash seems now we have night time during the day.
Some of the citizens they are afraid, as they try to figure out how to get away
But this is so strange, no where to run, no where to hide, as this seems to be everywhere one looks
Then right before our eyes, our mountain explodes, now everyone knows with this thing we cannot play
A cloud shoots high in the sky, we feel the heat, we smell something like rotten eggs, no idea to what is going on, a big disaster looms, that is the way things look.
My family decides we will stay as others seem to be running but with no where to go
Still raining the dirt, rocks, and ash, someone tell me what is going on?
Many try to flee as others they did not make it, people hit by the rocks. bodies piling up everywhere, so really no place to go
On this day our entire way of life, ended as we know it, everything here will soon be devastated and totally gone.
Even in the ocean there seems to be arising steam, none of us understand the danger we face
My family and I take refuge in the lower floor of our house
Some building have already collapsed under the weight of the ash, these buildings would never be replaced
But so far we are safe, scared to death, but safe in the lower floor of the house.
Soon something would come, something from which we could not hide
The air, we just can't breathe, soon there would be nothing left to say
At this time most of us with death we would give in no matter how hard we tried
Our homes, our way of life, our very life on that day was lost in the beautiful city known as Pompeii.
