I am a woman, does that make me any different than you?

But I am in the wrong country, at the wrong time, where Sharia law rules
Because of my gender, certain thing are not available to me, my choices, they are very few
I can't drive, own property, or even get an education, for women this place is very cruel.
I can be stoned to death if I break certain laws, you can cut off my hand if need be
Maybe years ago this would have been ordained, but now in the twenty-first century?
Does our God really condom such a thing? It seems God would want us to be free
We are also human beings, we also have hopes and dreams, please pay attention, don't you see?
Our ideology is so extreme, but God is there to bless all, men and women
We as Muslim, there are fanatics, just like through history there have been Christian fanatics too
Just because I am a woman and want to be free, according to Sharia law this is a big sin
I just want to be free, take time and see things from my point of view.
Now some of us kidnapped, forced into slavery or marriage to someone we do not love
Forced into something, we do not wish for, forced against our will
But I think all of us wish to be as free as a dove
See, if we do not comply, men have the right us to kill.
Most of us succumb to a life, a life that for us has no meaning, no purpose, we just hang on trying to stay alive
What kind of life is that? Not one we wish for, now all our dreams and plans for life, now that is just a dream
The thought of bettering ourselves, one day we will be free, this is why we live and keep the fire alive
Now the thoughts of the future, they go up in smoke, just like steam.
Set us free, let us live our lives, one in which we so deserve
Don't sell us short, someone extend a hand, one that will help us achieve that which was stolen from us
We want education, and for that we are prepared to die, if we could stand up to you,we would, we are not afraid, from our beliefs and dreams we will not swerve
HELP us PLEASE, BRING US HOME, for us this is a must
