Give Us Back Our Christmas!

I’d wish you a “Merry Christmas”
But it’s not Politically correct
Only”Happy Holidays”
Will the Christmas Police accept
“Seasons Greetings” is another
It covers all the bases
It’s been around for years now
You hear it many places

The schools may not have a “crèche”
Re-enacting Jesus’ birth
Or the stories that were told for years
Of how he came to earth
Christmas has been hijacked
It was a sacred time
When we worshiped Christ our Saviour
And all the church bells chimed

Now it’s just another day
When stores all open wide
To fill the coffers of business men
And Jesus is pushed aside
Young children worship Santa Claus
As if he were a God
His picture is all around you
But Jesus?;…nary a nod!

Let’s keep Christ in Christmas
Don’t let them take it away
Give us back OUR holiday
CHRIST WAS BORN TODAY!

Christmas Time
Bea,

It's noor a t the lack of religion that is the saddest thing about Christmas, it is the commercialism!

Whether it is a Winter Festival or Christmas it was a time for family and friends to get together and enjoy each others company. Now for a lot is is pressure, pressure, pressure. To buy presents for everyone and ensure your children are not the ones who get less than their friends etc.

Even Christmas Cards have now with UK postage rates become very hard to afford.

The rich get richer, the poor get poorer and Christmas has become yet another tool to keep the cycle going!

You Got That Right, Ivor!
When I was a child...a thougsand years ago...It was ALL about Jesus' birth. Of course, later on Santa came in to the picture, but NEVER dominated the reason for the season..he was just another reason to delight the children as we told the story of Christ's birth and how the wise men came from afar to worship him and brought him gifts to honor him! But there always was a Christmas Pageant in the schools...usually involving the reenactment of his birth in a Manger. Children of other faiths as I recall, were NEVER forced to particip;ate, but most of them did!

We didn't mind when jolly Christment songs played endlessly, interspersed with Carols...not matter what religion you were...the Carols were always welcome!

It's a sad commentary that according to latest polls, relgion among young people is declining...
All the more reason to KEEP CHRIST IN CHRISTMAS!!
