And We Too

From Gun Sight Pass
east to the Dragoons, the sky islands,
as far west as the Boboquivari range, virga rain
dangled like veils almost from heaven,
mysterious shards of light flashing,
dissolving like ice cycles.
No way we could be sour with the huge armada
of blue cumulous clouds
anchored above the western peaks
and the one we knew only as Amil
smiling with his whole face,
that even the lizards seemed happier for it.
When twin rainbows appeared
Amil wept and smiled,
and the lizards wept and smiled,
The worst thing in the world is the homesickness that comes over a man occasionally when he is at home.
