what do old men do when
they've crossed their final bridge and
so choose a lakeside pew and
sit back & feed the pigeons

what do codgers think then
their memories & laurels
a smoke, a flask for drink, and
some crusts to give the squirrels

what do old fellows want then
their final hopes & wishes
perhaps a continent-
al breakfast for the fishes
