_Laundry Day_

I'm in a quandry
About the state of my laundry:
The basket is broken,
And as a result all my clothing
Is in a heap on the floor,
Thus making the chore
Of cleaning this mess
Seem constantly less
Enticing to me
Than doing laundry should be.

Wa;sh Out!
Sounds like a wash out to me. Time to call on good ole mom. A boys best friend is his mother!

Laundry
I like the tongue-in-cheek style poem - there's little of it about now for some reason - but its a pity that there are so many disjointed syllables, like "enticing". It really stops the flow of the poem. Yet it's very good for light hearted fun :)

advice
I certainly can't tell you how to write poetry after reading this elegant little piece, but I can pass on my successful technique for handling the laundry problem. Ignore it.

laundry
nice...well structured
quick, fun, and made me laugh(it wasn't funny, just amusing)

i agree that "enticing" does not fit into the mood of the poem
the mood is light and the word enticing seems too heavy...

my two cents

Fun fact
As Bea said in a comment elsewhere, I'm now married.

Something to amuse you...

This poem "Laundry Day" was read out by my Best Man in his speech at our wedding. He searched through the Lit.org and Badpuns.com archives to find anything that was suitable embarrassing.

Hi Spud...welcome home!
Hi spud...how's married life?

My old computer crashed, after I spoke to you last...got a new one, but lost a lot of data in the process...among them your new e-mail address.

Hope the wedding was all you hoped it would be.
I'm so happy for you! Stick around awhile...we missed you!

Bea
