With the world so vast
And the time to live so small,
It is no wonder how easy it is
To make a mess of it all.
To wander around easily
Without a clue,
In knowing what to say
And what to do,
And still, through it all,
The truth does come through.

Now take this couple who lived
Such a long, long time ago,
Who were just wandering and wondering
Just where to go,
Being unable to read the face
Of strangers,
Unable to tell who was friend or foe.
Without food in their stomachs
And map in hand,
They must seek comfort
Wherever they can.

Because they had been cast adrift
From all that they know,
And with little knowledge
Of what makes the world go,
They relied on faith and wisdom
To help them get through their day
As they fell asleep in Bethlehem,
To catch their breath,
And to thank God
For giving them this day.

And when Mary gave birth,
Little did she know that
A new world was born,
Now full of hope,
In a world that was once
Full of scorn.
And when baby Jesus cries.
All God's angels sing.
Now Jesus, Mary and Joseph
Will now help us all
Find our way,
To eternal happiness,
On this Christmas Day.

And , maybe,
Not only on Christmas,
But, on each and everyday,
That a star shines our way.
