Now the years have outnumbered
candles, hot wax drips onto
this rancid cake, discolouring
a once clear mind.

These days I wander lost
around rooms, where memories
hide from my forgetfulness,
wishing for another taste of life.

So, just pass me another slice.
Yes! That piece! (that bit with the cherry)
I want to lick and lash
at the cream of a younger time,

feel itsí softness,
between my freshly
resurrected, messy lips.

Sorry for the rancid cake
Happy Birthday?
At least the poem is fresh.
