It doesn’t seek to preach or to affright.
It’s not political or full of spite.
It doesn’t rage against the dying light.
I really like the poetry I write.

More scientific than from headline news --
because these are the subjects I peruse --
more upbeat than bogged down in the blues,
I’m happy with the topics that I choose.

I‘d dub my verse as relatively clean,
at least not pornographic or obscene.
Good-hearted, chiefly, often droll, not mean,
I voice my head and heart more than my spleen.

Though critics may not care for it one bit,
I’m content to continue writing it.

You are what you write

Thanks for the insight into your poetry James

I agree, since we can not all claim to be at the very top shelf of our professions or hobbies the important thing is being happy with our own performance / contribution

I am no more a poet than an athlete....I have probably competed in more sports than I have wrote stuff.....some with better results than others..... The fun was taking part.

You also voice your "eye", poeteye.

Your observations are always astute and your analysis always well grounded.

One poet raging against the dying light is plenty enough!

You're your own best critic. This poem proves that.

Thois reader is contebt to continue reading the poetry you write.

Thabk you for it all!

And WE are more than content to be reading it James.
