There are so many groups
Holding different keys to awareness,
Enlightenment,
Reality, understanding
And truth,
Perhaps, jailor-like, I should collect them,
Yet I have my own set of lock picks.

The quickest way for me to learn something new is to first understand why I'd like to learn it.

poeteye's acrostic
as each group offers each illusion of liberation, a new entrapment begins...

as each individual finds comfort in each lesser trap, your final word resonates as "choice".

Wonderful as usual.

Thank you.

If you Cant Fix it

You are too nice "Lock Picks"

If it don't work hit it with a Hammer

Hasn't the USA GB etc etc been doing it for years

If you cant fix it fuck it
so no other fucker can fix it

unknown author

or the Handy-mans version

If you cant Duck it Fuck it

Scuse the explicit language but that's the way the ditty goes.

"Yet I have my own set of lock picks"

That is guilt by self admission....

Own set of keys would have been more honest sounding

Picking your brain, Eric.
"Lock picks," can operate for any lock. A key -- even a master key -- is individually specific. Even a key to the city is only for that particular city. I realize that lock picks can connote criminal intent, but in this instance I only intended it as economical, compared to the jailor's bulky ring of keys. Lock picks also imply a knowledge of the inner workings of a locking mechanism. Anyone can simply turn a key, if it's the right key. Picking a lock is an acquired skill, and its simple tools serve in any situation.
If you are seeking a literal interpretation, then yes, at one time I was a bonded, registered locksmith. Writers often have a plethora of work experience in a variety of fields. You don't think I earned my fortune by writing poetry and growing orchids do you? And you don't think I'm rich do you?
Thank you for your amusing ditties.

Ah, Lucie, you get me!
Thank you again, Lucie, for verification of communication -- not to mention appreciation.

Go Pro

Haha now if I had known you were a pro (Locksmith) that would have put an entirely different angle on things.

I will bear you profession in mind for future reference.

The only value I put on posts here are education / amusement / friendliness plus a few others. How big a fortune in cash authors have accumulated interests me not one jot. I had not assumed you were a millionaire as far as I can recall though I haven't been tested for the Alzheimer's Disease my mother suffered for years. I dare say all us Working Class lot all had to graft for our beans over the years.....

Some people stick to a belief that poetry should "Stand Alone" and need no additional explanation...... I am a little "Thick" in that respect and have to be told or have prior knowledge in order to understand.

That is probably why I dislike those short Haiku things... they should come with a warning "Keep out if you aint brainy"

I have to fill in half of all that spare time I have picking my own brains

from menial to prestigious and back again
I've also worked as a custodian, fundraiser, telemarketer, marketing assistant, teaching assistant, warehouseman, movie extra, accountant, underwriter and journalist. I've probably forgotten a few, but they will be remembered if I ever need to call upon them in my writing.

poeteye's acrostic
there are so many groups holding different keys to beauty...

Many good poets are in other "beauty" groups as well.

I like how your own awareness operates here.
