For those getting older don't feel blue
I am still a youngster at age sixty two
Gas in the tank lot's of people to thank
Life has been good through and through

For those that are older don't feel grey
You enjoyed your life work rest and play
To chose your own path have such a laugh
Life exactly what you made it hey! hey!

For those that are younger time is here
To sing dance or play the devil may fear
To do what you please for life is a breeze
A Toast to "All That is Fun" Hear! Hear!

Don't know how I missed this last week...too busy primping for MY birthday the next day (Jan. 16th!) A belated, but sincere HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you!!!

We Capricorns age well and long! Most centenarians are Capricorns. We are a stubborn lot, like our symbol, the goat. He slowly, but steadfastly climbs the mountain, one foot at a time...and outlasts all the other animals who race up the hillside to be first...and drop dead of a heart attack before they reach the top!

So...my friend...let that be a lesson to ya...stop and smell the roses of life, and let the others race by you...you'll have to sidestep the carcasses along the way, but that will not deter you I'm sure!

Again...Happy Birthday!

What I like best about this poem is that it reminds me that you are older than me! Not wiser mind you ... just older. *chuckle*
The 2nd thing I noticed ... immediately ... is that you know enough to use .... hear instead of here. Kudos .. now if you could just figure out that loose isn't lose. *another chuckle*

Birthday Candle

Thank you for your input.

Bea I do burn the candle at both ends now and again but only for a relatively short time if it's getting dark. I have spent years learning the most effective ways of making people dead (In Combat) without getting there myself.

There was a self inflicted pattern to this poem which meant I chopped and changed things to fit in originally the guilty error was that I had put

You chose your own path and had such a laugh....

and

I have gas in the tank lots of people to thank

Way to Go!
Methinks you meaner'd from place to place
not choosing, but chosen by life's fair grace.
Each corner you turned,found only by chance
presented a challenge your fun to enhance.

We carefully plan what we want out of life
education, career and even our wife.
Taking the pathways we believe we dictate,
then finding our keys never fit every gate.

But bending and twisting and making life fit
is the reason we love it or find it just shit.
And whether we choose to walk slow or to run,
its playing the hand we are dealt that is fun!
