-alone somewhere tonight are we,
facing the other.
each a different dance or step away,
hiding behind small things we say,
like nameless drawings upon our walls
that lose us in one moments' glance-
a dare to leave or take the chance...
lost heart divided so far from me.
if but for these moments alone we dream,
may then we embrace to feel the heart
of the other, to touch the face.
as our lives have become us
and everything is heard,
give the time to understand
a love of unspoken words.
trust in that, where once trust was bent-
lean upon where your heart would be,
in a heaven lost or heaven spent-
i knew you when... when you knew me.
we live fixated upon either side.
dividing wall that endured the test.
and 'twas here we chose our hearts to hide,
and all that wonder gives us beyond its crest.
say goodbye, but never wave-
for what we cherish the most, is eternally saved.
a shoreline that runs forever
and where now still abides,
an image of you standing there...
i will always keep inside.
