Life, Death & Desperation

Much I’d give
for gift of Sight
Know what waits,
the fate unseen
beyond the mist
of simple distance
past the page
of aging time

Many years
of fear, impatience
passing fast,
casting past
my time on Earth,
birth to death
Breath of corpses
forces rhymes

Monument
to Elements
House of gods,
of sod or stone
never stands
the sands of Time
None remains,
but feigns immortal

Now I peer
in clearer waters
into dark,
mark the time
by writing lore;
more’s the twist:
leaving chapters
after death

I leave tomes
and bones behind
crumbling leather,
weathered flesh
Mortal minds
find desperate living
in these pages
rage for light

I hit walls
for all my seeking
writing down
what’s found and lost
Against the cold
I hold expectant
past misgivings,
living soul
