Church belles ringing, choirs singing
Goodwill everywhere
Snowflakes falling, old friends calling
Greetings fill the air
Another year has come and gone
Some changes have been made
Children have grown up…left home
We move on in life’s parade
Now Merry Christmas is frowned upon
Happy Holiday rules the air
Christ is being pushed aside
Soon they’ll outlaw prayer!
But I remember Christmas
As it was so long ago
When neighbors all went caroling
Treading carefully in the snow
And people knelt and honored the child
At a crèche` that stood in the square
And cries of “Merry Christmas”
From people everywhere
Christmas was a holy day
The Birthday of a King
Not just an excuse for shopping
For a large TV or ring
Let us honor him with prayer
At we gather in the pews
As choirs sing alleluias
Spreading the good news
Let’s keep Christ in Christmas
As in days of yore
And wish him Happy Birthday
That’s what this day is for!
