When the world is closing in
And troubles multiply
I feel that God’s forgotten me
And I hang my head and cry
But then I look around me
At the blessings he’s bestowed
And know that he’s beside me
As I trod along life’s road

I have a home to live in
And a family That I love
He sends the sun to warm me
And a blue sky up above
I wake up to the sound of birds
Chirping in the trees
And inhale the scent of lilacs
Wafting in the breeze

He sends the rain to water
The fields we sow and plow
And gently bathes the blossoms
Budding on the bough
I know that I am not alone
For I feel his gentle hand
Placed upon my shoulder
I know he understands

Thank you Lord, for these gifts
Sent me from above
They show your power and glory
Bur most of all…your love

For I don't want to work on it any more...
Bea, this is indeed on its way to a wonderful reflection of what could be our each guiding force in life. Very good work, a little different than the norm, and that is especially good.

May I offer some suggestions...of course I may and I shall.

One of the most destructive elements in poetry that can really pretty much destroy the overall fragment of the whole, and far too many poets and song lyricists use it abundently, is the use of the word "For..." and meaning "because..."

It is a crutch, a lazy way of saying the poet does not really want to work on the following line. It NEVER works, and it does not work here.

Other than that, there are subtle flaws in the overall metrical system in this otherwise very good poem.

I know that I am not alone
Don't listen to the geezer who can't always spell properly, Bea. The above post has no issue but sometimes...makes me think more than one person is behind that profile. And why haven't you blocked him? I have absolutely no idea why anyone humors him.

Use whatever tools are at your disposal and damn the torpedoes. Someone doesn't like it? Then they should keep their over-inflated opinion to themselves.

Having gotten that off my chest, I think this is a fine offering. You know I am not a fan of praise poetry but I am of self-expression and you have that in abundance. Blessed indeed.

Thanks Sir Galahad!
Thanks Francisco...I just never think about blocking anyone...yet! I guess he's entitled to his opinion...and my guess is that this is probably the only site that tolerates him...so I'll just put a pin in his balloon when he get TOO obnoxious!

Thank you Sir Galahad! LOL

gloating all week
ha ha I have been blocked, Bobby has blocked me at least a doozen times, then he misses me, and un-blocks me again. Do you thinnk I care? Why not? Because I am usually right and care not for what any poet crybaBY has to say about much of anything, all they can do is point out that I am unable to spell correctly, ignoring the obvious fact that it is probably more of a keyboard mis-guidance than a smelling error.

Fact is that there are many, many more readers here on this very site than we know about, and the majority of them never comment about anything.

I never said Bobby's poems are bad, I said I do not like them. About a year ago he wrote what I liked a lot. But it did not last from my point of view.

But I think blocking anyone is just more ignorance piled on more ignorance. Then they spend all day and a week from Moonday gloating on how they fixed that old geezer. LOL

Bea and Ronnie
sorry, but I must speak to Ronnie:

VeeB,
I blocked you once. After a period of time, I decided to unblock you- giving you a second chance. Your constant misinformation, misdirection (like your trolling, here at this thread) and disinformation tactics are boorish.
Perhaps, you are confusing having many of your ignorant comments being deleted with being blocked.

I've had folks here PM and email me, asking why I don't block you and why I engage you?..It's worth giving you rope..exposing you.

Bea,
another classic Bea offering..
enjoyed

Happy Thanksgiving

RE: My Blessings
An enjoyable piece; we are blessed in many ways - and yet, it seems that we tend to overlook them; keep thanking and praising Him! -Joe
