The elf vaguely eyed me from his throne. He seemed hardly interested in me.
"Human, huh?" he said.
"Yes. I'm trying to get home again." I said.
He looked through the window and I wasn't sure if he had really listened to me.
"I miss my home." I said, more emphatically.
Now, he looked at me again.
"Do you?" he asked.
"Yes. Very much."
Now he smiled.
"It's not my fault that you got here." he said.
What was wrong with this elf? Why was he like this?
"I'm really sorry, but I have nothing to do with this."
"I thought you had magical powers." I said.
"I do."
Again he started to look through the window.
"Then please, help me!" I asked.
"I can't. There's nothing I can do for you." the elf said.
Two watchmen grabbed my arms and lead me to the garden. There, a bunch of young female elves were waiting for me. The watchmen closed the gate behind me.
"Are you really human?" one of the girls asked me.
"Yes. Can you help me to find my way back home?" I asked.
They all smiled and shook their head. They seemed to find me amusing. They grabbed my arm and took me to a quiet place in the wood.
"This is the elfwood." one of them said.
We sat down on the ground. It wasn't exactly comfortable, but there were no soft seats around here.
"We're very happy to have you here. We could have some fun..."
"Girls... I just want to go home." I said.
"Come on. Don't be like that."
I wondered what they were up to. One girl put her hand on my shoulder.
"We're sick and tired of studying those boring spells"
"We want some change."
Then, they laughed.
"Don't be afraid! We won't harm you!"
"Yeah. Most of the time, our spells don't work."
Now, they all laughed harder.
"What do you want from me?" I asked them.
"It's simple. We just want to have some fun. What is your favourite game?"
I wasn't in the mood for games.
"Come on. Tell us."
Those elves seemed to be very fond of games and they kept playing for ages. I was bored. When would they let me go? I couldn't stay here! Suddenly, another elf showed up.
"What's going on here?"
The girls didn't answer. They walked away without saying a word.
"You're human." the other elf said.
"That's right. I want to go home."
"Sorry. We can't help you."
I had a close look at this elf. She was very beautiful. My look made her feel uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry. I shouldn't stare like this." I said.
"I eh... I have to go now." the elf said.
"Wait! Don't leave me here."
She seemed surprised.
"I need to go home." I said.
I was sick of asking those elves for help.
"Why don't you go and see a wizard?" she asked.
"A wizard?"
"Yes. Some of them have strong magical powers."
"Where can I find one?"
"They usually don't come here." she said. Suddenly, another elf showed up.
"Well, well... A human in the Elfworld..." he said.
He had a close look at me. I wondered if he could help me.
"You have no magical powers, do you?"
"No. I don't." I answered.
"I know how you can go back to the humanworld."
"Let's see... I don't believe I remember that spell very well... How did it go again?"
The elf tried to remember and I waited silently.
"It was something like... Em..."
Then, he said something I didn't understand and the next moment, I was in a strange hall. Before I could have a proper look around, two guards grabbed my arms and brought me to the throneroom. That elf was still sitting on his throne.
"Why have you come back?" he asked half surprised, half sharply.
"I didn't do anything! I was in the wood, talking to that elf and suddenly I was in a strange room. Don't know what happened."
The elf had a close look at me.
"You were teleported." he said.
For a second time, two watchmen took me to the garden and closed the gate behind me. Those elves began to get on my nerves. Suddenly, two of them passed by. It were a man and a woman.
"A human..." the woman said.
I didn't want to talk to them and headed for the wood. There, I met that other elf.
"I'm sorry about this. My spell just didn't work. I'm really sorry."
"I have enough of this." I said.
"Of course... We really do our best, you know."
"You'll have to come up with something better." I said quite sharply.
"Sometimes, our spells don't work. Those things happen."
Then, another elf passed by.
"You have a very bad memory. There is no spell for teleporting him to the humanworld." she said.
"He's human! He has no magical powers!"
She had a look at me and then continued.
"He ended up in the castle. I knew you had something to do with it."
"I did my best."
The other elf shook her head.
"Don't. It will never work because he's human." she said.
Then, she grabbed my arm.
"Come with me."
"What are you up to?"
"I'm going to help you."
We headed for a small house.
"You can stay here." she said.
"But I want to go back."
"There's no way back. One would need very strong magical powers to teleport you to your own world."
I shook my head. She had to be mistaken, or maybe, she was just lying. Why would I believe her?
"You stay here." she said. "From now on, this is your new home."
Then, she smiled at me.
"Do you like it?"
"It's fine... Can you tell me more about those wizards? Who are they?"
"Why do you ask?"
"I'm just curious."
"Well, there are good wizards and evil wizards. Usually, they have strong magical powers. We don't see them very often, just now and then."
Then, she took my hand.
"Come. Let's go back outside."

That night, I slept in a strange bed. This place certainly didn't feel like home. Could those elves be trusted? What if they used their magical powers against me? The sooner I left, the better. I was not planning to give up. Had to find out more about those wizards. After breakfast, I talked to several elves. They all told me more or less the same.
"Can I teleport to their world?"
The elf was shocked.
"Why would you do that?!"
"They can take me home."
"Wizards can be very dangerous. You don't know them." the elf said.
"I want to get to know them."
"I just do..."
The elf didn't seem to understand.
Later that day, more elves warned me for the wizards. I got bored. This place was dull. The elves tried to cheer me up, but that didn't work. After a while, they gave up and began to ignore me. That made me feel even worse. Days went by. One day, I was in the wood, looking at the Elfriver when a pretty girl appeared behind me. She was really very goodlooking. I was amazed. She looked at me and smiled.
"Hallo..." she said.
"Who are you?" I asked.
"I'm a wizard."
Couldn't believe it. A wizard!
"Can I join you?" she asked.
She smiled and sat down next to me. I couldn't keep my eyes off her, but she looked at the river. She was wearing a very short dress. There was something about her... as if she had put a spell on me. Most of the Elfgirls were pretty too. But she...
"Who are you?" she asked.
"I'm a human."
"A human?!"
Now, she had a close look at me. She was shocked.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
"Don't know how I got here. I only want to go home."
She was clearly impressed.
"You're trapped here."
"Yes." I nodded.
She seemed to feel sorry for me.
"Can you bring me home?" I asked.
"Not sure... It wouldn't be easy... And my magical powers are weak."
"How come?"
"Another wizard did this to me."
"That's what evil wizards do."
"But I'm not like them. I won't harm you." she said.
Then, she looked at the river again.
"I still need to get used this, though. It's not easy..."
"I'm sorry."
She shook her head.
"Don't be. I'll manage."
Again, she smiled.
"Did you have much fun in your own world?"
"It was O.K... I just don't like it here. Those elves..."
"What do you mean?"
"I don't belong here."
"Elves are cute. Wizards can be very mean."
"There are worse places."
"It's boring. So boring! I've got nothing to do!"
She was surprised. I realised that she didn't understand.
"At home, I had my friends, T.V., internet, computergames... But here..."
She just looked at me silenty.
"You don't have to stay here." I said.
"I'm glad I don't have to stay in my own word for good. This place is much better."
"Will you stay here?" I asked.
"I would if I could."
I found that hard to believe. What was so special about this place? It were only some trees, a castle that I was not allowed to enter and some elves who didn't understand me and had begun to ignore me.
"Take me away." I asked her.
She was very surprised.
"Are you sure?"
"Alright then..."
She said something I didn't understand and the next moment, I was at another place. I was in a strange big hall. The walls were made of glass and there was a strange blue light. A strange woman appeared. She was staring at me. Then, she said a few words that I didn't understand and suddenly, strange creatures appeared. They looked like the demons from one of my videogames. They screamed and began to attack me! It was terrible. I had wounds nearly everywhere and I lost a lot of blood.
"No! No!Stop! Please help me!" I screamed.
But no-one helped me. After a while, I was too weak to scream. And then, all turned black before my eyes.

I opened my eyes. I was lying in a strange bed. Two strange men were looking at me. Who were they? They told me they were wizards. My wounds were gone. We left the strange room and went downstairs. I still didn't understand what had happened to me. I told them about the human world, about home. They were very interested in this, but I wanted to go home as soon as possible. They just went on asking questions, but I had enough.
"Can't you take me home?" I asked.
"We have never met a human before. We have no spell for bringing you back home."
They seemed to be telling the truth. I didn't have the impression that they were lying.
"Maybe there is no way back."
"Don't say that."
"Our magical powers are limited. Some things are just impossible." the wizard continued.
I shook my head. No! There hàd to be a way back! Suddenly, two young, goodlooking women appeared. They were wearing long dresses and their hair was put up. The wizards explained to them that I was human.
"Can you bring me home?" I asked.
Both women shook their heads. The men told them everything I had just told them about home. This place was boring too! Suddenly one of the women took my hand. She said something I didn't understand and the next moment, we were in a wood.
"Where are we?" I asked.
"We're in the Elfwood. Lovely, isn't it?"
"It's boring."
"How can you say that?"
"It's true. I have nothing to do here. I won't survive if I have to stay here much longer. It's killing me."
"Because it's boring!" I snapped.
Her dumb questions really got on my nerves.
"Stay calm. Screaming isn't going to help."
"I mean it."
She put her hands on my shoulders, looked me in the eye and started to massage me a little.
"Just relax." she said softly.
For a few moments, I was speechless.
"There is so much to do here. Just give it a try."
I shook my head.
"You're wrong."
"No, I'm not. I have magical powers." she said.
Suddenly, she was wearing a white, short dress without sleaves. And her hair was hanging over her shoulders now. It made her look very different. She kept massaging my shoulders.
"Please, lie down." she said.
"Sst. Trust me."
A few moments later, I was lying on the ground while she was massaging my back. She also sang a soft song. It sounded a bit like a lullaby, but I let her. Suddenly, she got up.
"I have to go now. Are you feeling better now?"
"Yeah... Where are you going?" I asked.
She smiled.
"I can't stay here all day long. But I'll be back."
She put her hand on my cheek while she kept smiling.
"Don't worry." she said.
Then, the vanished. I was alone again. How was I going to find my way back to the Elfvillage now? I looked around, but I could only see trees and bushes and flowers.
"Great!" I said, although no-one could hear me.
"Don't worry. I'm here." someone behind me said.
Suddenly, the other girl was standing behind me, the wizard I had met by the riverbank.
"I see that my friend has brought you back."
"Those demons attacked me!"
"I know."
"You... You did this, didn't you?"
"Yes." she nodded.
"Why?! I was bleeding!"
"I know. I just wanted to show you why I love this place so much. It's so peaceful... and safe."
"You put me in danger?!"
"No, no. I knew my friends would save you. Wouldn't put you in danger."
"But I was wounded."
"Yes..." she nodded.
"Can't believe this."
"They hurt us too."
"But I'm human. I have nothing to do with this!"
"I'm sorry. I just... I wanted you to understand. And besides... You didn't seem happy here."
I just looked at her and didn't know what to say.
"My world isn't a nice place. The evil wizards are always up to something. I'll bring you to the Elfvillage before I have to go back."
"Why do you have to go back?"
"I wouldn't survive if I stayed here for too long."
She began to walk, looked at me and smiled.
"I am saving my magical powers... I have to, they're still weak."
"Is it far?" I asked.
She shook her head.
"Not too far."
She took my hand and we headed for the Elfvillage. Before we got there, we met one of the elves. For a few moments, he looked at me, but then he walked deeper into the wood without saying a word.
"They're ignoring me." I said.
"I noticed. Elves don't like people who are always in a bad mood."
"You seem to know them well." I said.
"Yeah... I love this place."
She had a look around and I could see that she really loved this wood. A few moments later, we met two other elves. They didn't talk to us either.
"Do you have friends here?" I asked.
"No, not really. I like the elves but... They're different. They fear the evil wizards."
"So do you." I assumed.
She smiled.
"Yeah... So do I, but I have strong magical powers... used to have them anyway, and soon, I will get them back."
"Don't know yet. We'll think of something. Some of my friends are very strong, stronger than I've ever been."
Then, she looked in the direction of the village.
"The elves are just defenceless. Only their king has strong magical powers."
"He threw me out of his castle... twice."
Now she laughed.
"It's not funny." I said.
"I'm sorry, but... Why twice?"
"That elf teleported me back to the castle."
"Oh, I see... Don't worry. I won't do that to you."
"I just want to go home..."
"Hey, I'm sure you're going to love this place. Just give it some time. You just need to get used to it. I'm sure this place is very different than your homeworld."
"You could say that."
A few moments later, we met a group of female elves. They smiled at us.
"What are you up to?" one of them asked.
"We're on our way to the village." the wizard answered.
"We'll come along with you."
Two of them put their hand on my shoulders.
"When did you two meet eachother?" one of them asked.
I could see that they were really curious.
"We met a while ago." the wizard answered.
"Nice..." the female elf nodded.
The wizard smiled. She seemed amused. A few moments later, we could see the village.
"Maybe we could do something nice." one of the elves said.
"Yeah. Good idea!" one of the other elves said.
I didn't understand. Why were they doing this? Why didn't they ignore me anymore?

The wizard had to leave, but the elves stayed with me for the rest of the day. They had changed completely. Well, at least they distracted me a bit. The wizards stayed away for a week. But suddenly, she was there. I was sitting under a tree when she suddenly showed up.
"Hey. How are you?" she asked.
She smiled, as if she was in a good mood. She was wearing a long, light-brown dress this time.
"The elves have changed." I said.
"Have they?"
"Well, that bunch of girls no longer ignores me. They'd be here with me right now, if they didn't have to study."
The wizard still smiled. She walked towards me and sat down.
"Do you still hate it here?" she asked.
"Kind of... I don't know... I still want to go home, though. I have stayed here for far too long."
She put her hand on my shoulder and looked at me silently.
"I can't just go home and pretend that this didn't happen!" I said.
"I know." she nodded.
For a few moments, we just sat there without saying a word. It was just so frustrating! This place was becoming my new home and there was nothing I could do about it.
"My magical powers are still very weak. Nothing has changed since last week." she told me.
"Sorry to hear that."
"You're dissepointed." she said.
"I was hoping that you would bring me home."
She shook her head.
"What's your name?" I asked.
"I'm Will.”
For a few moments, Mylan kept looking at me. She seemed to feel sorry for me.
“The elves are nice, you‘re going to be fine.” she said.
“Do you friends come here too?”
“Usually they don‘t. They have other things to do. Wizards are normally busy with their spells.”
A few moments later, the Elves came back from their lessons. Mylan and I were not alone anymore. While the elves were talking, I kept thinking about going back home. How could I meet other wizards if they didn‘t come here? Their world was a terrible place, I did not feel like going there. I could only hope that Mylan would get her powers back very soon. She didn‘t stay for too long, but she promised she would be back soon. After she had left, I kept thinking about her. That night, she came back. She had come back very soon and I was very surprised to see her standing next to my bed. She was wearing a white dress and she was holding a strange lamp in her hand.
“The bad wizards are attacking us again.” she said.
I was too surprised to say anything.
“Will... It‘s serious.” she continued.
“What are you going to do?” I asked.
“I don‘t know, they really surprised us.”
I could see that she was very upset. This was serious.
“There‘s nothing I can do.” I said quietly.
“I know, I know...”
I didn‘t know what else to say, so I just looked at her.
“They just keep attacking us. I don‘t even have my powers back yet! This is getting worse and worse.”
“Maybe you should talk to the elves.”
Mylan shook her head.
“They are too weak.”
I expected those evil wizards to show up in my room. Suddenly, Mylan noticed my fear and shook her head.
“They won‘t come tonight. They‘re too busy.” she said.
“And tomorrow?” I asked.
“My friends are trying to eliminate their powers.”
I was really relieved to hear that. I asked Mylan to sit down and she told me more about her friends. Some of them were very powerful. At least, that‘s what she told me. Suddenly, she got up and smiled.
“I have to let you sleep.” she said.
“It‘s alright.”
“No, no. You need to sleep. Sweet dreams, Will.”
The next moment, it was completely dark in my room. I wondered if she was still there.
“Mylan?” I asked.
But she didn‘t answer and I fell asleep. The next morning, someone opened my door. I opened my eyes and I saw the king of the elves standing in the doorway.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, but he wasn‘t talking to me.
Mylan was still in my room. She got up and looked at the king.
“I had to hide.” she said.
“That‘s it? That‘s all you have to say?” the king asked.
He was surprised, but he also seemed angry and I wondered why. Mylan nodded.
“Yes. That‘s all.” she said.
“You‘re a wizard. You don‘t belong here.”
“I won‘t stay for long.”
“Just go.” the king ordered. “Now!”
Suddenly, the guy made me angry. He was just mean. Why couldn‘t Mylan stay here? What had she done? She took my hand and smiled faintly.
“I think it‘s safe now.” she said softly.
I was surprised, but the next moment, she teleported me to a strange place. I looked around, but the place was completely deserted. There weren‘t even any plants or trees.
“They won‘t come here.” Mylan said.
“Where are we?”
“This is my world. It‘s about the only place where they can‘t come.”
“But how will we survive here?” I asked.
“My friends are still trying to destroy their magical powers. They‘re my only hope.”
I had a look around. This place was really weird. I kind of missed the elfworld!
“I brought you here because it‘s safe. You seemed worried about the evil wizards.”
“Yes, I was.” I nodded. “Are they going to attack the elves?” I asked.
“I don‘t know. Maybe. Their king was just afraid. He knows that he can‘t protect his people if they come.”

We just stayed there and waited. For a long time, nothing happened but then suddenly, a strange, strong light appeared and I heard a strange noise. It sounded like a scream. I looked at Mylan and I saw that she had a strange look in her eyes. Then, the light was gone. I grabbed hear arm and called her name, but she didn‘t seem to hear me. What had happened to her? It looked like the evil wizards had turned her into a zombie! I began to shake her and screamed her name even louder.
“Stop that. You‘re hurting me.” she suddenly complained.
I was very relieved. She was talking again!
“Are you alright?”
“Yeah, sure. My friends came to help me.”
“Help you?!”
“Yes. They do the best they can.”
I didn‘t understand. What was she talking about?
“They just gave me some of my powers back.” she explained.
“Don‘t get too excited. I‘m still very weak. At least, it will help us to survive here.” she said.
A glass of water appeared in her hand. She drank and then looked at me and smiled.
“So... What would you like to do now? I need to practice a bit.”
Her powers were very limited, so there wasn‘t much we could do. Suddenly, her mood swung.
“You know... It wasn‘t easy to do this for me. It‘s very hard to hide this place for the evil wizards.”
Then, she had a look around.
“It‘s possible that they will find it.”
I was surprised and shocked.
“But you said...”
“I know. They destroyed more magical powers. It‘s getting harder and harder. More wizards are becoming weaker.”
“Like you?”
“Kind of...”
She was very upset but what could I do? I felt helpless. Suddenly, she put her arms around me. I slowly put my hand on her back. She was not in the mood for practicing her spells. She was too upset. It was very strange to see her like this. Suddenly, she let me go.
“Most of my friends... have become weak. It‘s going very fast.” she said.
“What are we going to do?”
“What càn we do?”
I shook my head.
“Don‘t think this way. Don‘t loose hope.”
“I‘m very weak, Will.”
I just looked at her and said nothing. This was a nightmare. I was shocked, afraid and hardly able to move. I realised that I wanted to be with Mylan. I wanted to protect her. I cared for her. And of course, I remembered the wounds that their demons had caused. I didn‘t want to go through that again. Suddenly, she looked the other way. I put my hand on her shoulder and suddenly, I saw that she was crying. What could I say?
“We just... have to wait.” she said.
For a few moments, I just looked at her without saying anything. Then, something strange happened. I was teleported again. One moment, I was with Mylan, the next moment, I was lying on a soft surface. For some reason, I kept my eyes closed. Suddenly, I heard a voice.
“Why don‘t you finish with him?”
“He‘s human.”
“So? We can‘t spare anyone.”
For a few moments, all was silent.
“I like him.”
The other one sighed.
“Can‘t believe it...”
Then, I heard footsteps. When I opened my eyes, I saw a goodlooking, young woman. She had long hair and big, beautiful eyes.
“How are you?” she asked.
“I‘m fine.”
“Don‘t be afraid. You‘re in good hands.” she said.
She seemed really friendly. Suddenly, she got up.
“Let me show you the castle.” she said.
I got up and followed her through several rooms. I was in a very big castle now. It was amazing.
“Who built this?” I asked.
“My people did.”
“You‘re not human, are you?”
“It doesn‘t matter.”
I felt that she didn‘t like this question. She quickly headed for one of the window.
“Have a look. The landscape is great.” she said.
The landscape was amazing. This castle was built on a hill. For a few moments, I kept looking. I couldn‘t see any houses.
“Where is Mylan?” I asked.
She didn‘t know what I was talking about. She was very surprised and shook her head.
“My friend Mylan... She was with me when eh... before I got here.”
“You were alone when I found you.” she said.
Now, I was surprised.
“There was no-one with you.” she said while she looked me in the eye.
Then, she showed me some other rooms. Suddenly, I had enough.
“I‘ve got to find out what happened to Mylan.” I said.
“I‘m sorry, but I can‘t help you with that.” she said.
I had to do something. And I had to know if she was alright.
“My name is Alana.” she told me.
“I‘m Will.”
Alana smiled.
I was worried about Mylan, so I didn‘t smile back.
“Would you like to go outside?” Alana asked.
“Yeah... Sure.”
Alana showed me the trees and the flowers outside, but my mind was still with Mylan. Would I ever see her again? I just couldn’t stop thinking about her. In the evening, Alana and I returned to the castle and she showed me my new room. It had two big windows and there was only a bed in it. The next morning, I found Alana in one of the big halls. She was alone.
“Good morning.” she smiled.
“Where‘s the bathroom?” I asked without smiling back at her.
“There is no bathroom. You‘ll have to go to the river.” she answered.
So, I headed for the river. After that, I returned to the castle where Alana gave me breakfast. It tasted good.
“Are we alone here?” I asked.
“My friends are busy.” she answered.
She kept looking at me while I was having breakfast. I tried to ignore her and ate in silence. When I had finished, she grabbed my hand and took me outside.
“Let‘s go to the river.” she said.
“I don‘t want to stay here.”
Now, she was very surprised. She didn‘t understand.
“What do you mean?” she asked.
“I want to go home.”
For a few seconds, she stared at me without saying a word.
“Don‘t you like it here?”
“It‘s boring.”
My answer seemed to shock her.
“But you just got here.” she said.
“I know.”
“Please, don‘t be like this.”
“I don‘t belong here.” I said.
“Why do you say that?”
“It‘s not my home. You‘re not human, are you?”
“This place is far from boring.” she said.
She walked deeper into the wood. I followed her. When she reached the river, she sat down and took off her shoes. Then, she took off her dress. I stayed at a safe distance and stared at her. She smiled at me and then, she jumped into the water. I just kept looking at her as she began to swim.
“The water is very nice! Come on!” she gestured..
I shook my head.
“Hey why not? It‘s fun!”
But I didn‘t feel like swimming in that river. I just sat down and looked. She moved very gracefully as she was swimming.

It was late when we returned to the castle. That night, I still didn‘t get to see her friends and I began to think that she was hiding them from me. We went to the kitchen and she gave me a very nice meal.
“So... What would you like to do now?” she asked.
She just wouldn‘t give up. She was still enthousiastic about my presence here.
“Tell me how I can get back.” I told her.
For a few moments, she didn‘t seem to know what to say. Then, she got up from her chair and smiled.
“Follow me.” she said.
“What are you up to?” I asked.
“I can‘t bring you home, but there’s something else that I can do for you.”
I followed her upstairs. She took me to a very big hall. A band was playing some music. Suddenly, she grabbed my arms and began to dance with me. I was totally surprised. She laughed.
“Don‘t look like that. I‘m only trying to have fun.” she said.
I smiled faintly.
“Hey, don‘t spoil the mood.” she said.
“Why me? I mean, where are your friends?”
“I told you. They‘re busy.”
She stopped dancing and for a few moments, I looked her in the eye. Maybe, she was just feeling lonely.
“I‘m worried about my friend.” I said.
“Don‘t worry, alright?”
“I can‘t help it. She‘s a very nice girl. I really miss her.”
This was not what she wanted to hear. She just stared at me silently. The music kept playing, but I didn‘t feel like dancing. She raised her hand and suddenly, they stopped playing.
“You won‘t give me a chance.” she said.
I just looked at her silently. I felt that I had nothing to say.
“We might as well have fun, you know.” she said.
“Listen... Does any of your friends have strong magical powers?”
“Why do you ask?”
“I need to find my friend back.”
“Oh! Your friend!”
She shook her head and waved her hand.
“You‘ve got to forget about her. You‘re here now, with me.”
But I didn‘t want to stay. For a few moments, she looked me in the eye. Then, she left the hall. I was alone. She was angry. Unbelievable! I hadn’t done anything to her! I followed her. She was going downstairs.
“Where are you going?”
“I‘m going away. You don‘t want my help.” she answered.
“Of course I do! Help me to find my friend!”
But she didn‘t react. What was I supposed to do? Maybe I could have a look around. She was clearly hiding something from me. For hours I kept looking for something, but most doors were closed. This castle was unbelievable big. Finally, I went to my room and got some sleep. The next morning, I also checked the garden. There, I could see the castle’s high towers. It was very impressive. I was still in the garden when I suddenly heard a strange noise behind me. I looked up and saw a very big monster. He was much taller than me and he was hairy and had very big teeth and claws. His mouth was very big too. Suddenly, he bent and his mouth looked even bigger now. I just looked at him without moving. Then, he held out his arm and grabbed me. A strange light appeared and before I knew it, the monster was gone. I was stunned. Then, I noticed that Alana was in the garden now. She just stood there and looked at me without saying a word. I didn‘t know what to say. Why had she come back to me?
“Demons are dangerous.” she said.
Then, she walked towards me.
“Stay with me. I can protect you.”
“Are you a wizard?” I asked.
“That demon would have destroyed you.” she said.
Again, I didn‘t know what to say. She looked me in the eye and smiled. Suddenly, I heard some music. The musicians had come to the garden.
“Come. Let‘s dance.” she said.
I shook my head.
“I‘m sorry. I can‘t dance. Not when my friend is in trouble.”
“How do you know she‘s in trouble?”
“She lost her magical powers. She‘s defenceless.”
“It‘s too late for her then.”
“I have to do something.” I said.
“Why? You‘re human. You‘re weak.”
“You don‘t understand.”
“Don‘t worry about it, alright? There‘s nothing you can do.”
I couldn‘t let her down. I couldn‘t.
Alana and I headed for the river and sat down at the bank. Time was passing. I was wasting time. Mylan needed me and I was doing nothing. I stared at the water and felt terrible. Alana was silent and after a while, I forgot about her presence. My mind was with Mylan. Later that day, we returned to the castle and I had my first meal of that day. A strange man entered the kitchen. His cold eyes were resting on me and I stopped eating. He had an oval face and his grey hair was mid-length, almost long enough to reach his shoulders. He was wearing a black coat. I assumed that he was a wizard. Alana seemed to know him.
“Humans don‘t belong here.” he said.
I was very surprised to hear this! It also confused me. Alana got up.
“Let‘s talk about this in the hall.” she said.
“No! The human may hear it. This nonsense has to end!”
“I won‘t change my mind.” Alana said.
“Neither will I. If you don‘t finish with him today, then I will!”
Then, he left the kitchen. Alana looked at the door. I stared at her silently. It got through to me that I wasn‘t safe here.
“Help me to escape.” I told her.
Then, she looked me in the eye. She was looking very sad now.
“We can‘t escape.” she said.
I shook my head. She had to be lying! She had to! She sat down and the look in her eyes told me she wasn‘t joking. Suddenly, I wasn‘t hungry anymore.
“I‘m not supposed to do this.” she explained.
“What do you mean?”
“Tell me.”
But she shook her head. She refused to talk about it.
“Are you an evil wizard?” I asked.
“It‘s better not to talk about this.”
Again, she looked me in the eye and I could see that she was very sad.
“You... You have magical powers. There must be something you can do.”
“No. My powers are too weak.”
Then, I just sat there. I didn‘t move or I didn‘t say anything. She was an evil wizard and her friend was going to finish with me.

Later that day, I and Alana were walking in the wood. She was still very quiet. Suddenly, I saw something glittering in the sun. It was lying on the ground between the trees. I went to have a close look and saw that it was an amulet. I picked it up and the next moment, I was in a strange room. I looked around and to my big surprise, I saw Mylan! I couldn‘t believe it!
“Will!” she said.
“Mylan! Are you alright?”
“They destroyed àll my magical powers!”
I could see that she was very upset and I didn‘t know what to say. Touching that amulet had brought me here. For a few moments, I was confused, but then it got through to me that someone was helping us. There was still hope. I checked the door, but it was locked. I explained to her what had happened, but this time, there was no amulet. There was no help at all. I looked through the window. After a while, it started to get dark and I remembered the words of that man. Did he mean it? It were just words. There was no reason to fear the worst. That guy could say what he likes. Mylan took my hand and together we looked at the sky. Maybe that guy was a very good liar. Or maybe someone would stop him. Outside, it got darker and darker and suddenly, the door flew open and that guy was looking at me. He was ready to finish with me. Mylan put her arms around me. She wanted to protect me. He walked towards me with big steps and grabbed my arm. Several strange creatures appeared in the room. They had to be demons. Most of them were hairy and had very big teeth. They all looked at me. The guy pulled at my arm but the next moment, a strange light appeared. For a few moments, the guy just looked at it. Then, he raised his hand and said something I didn‘t understand. Another light appeared. This light was much stronger and I closed my eyes to protect them. Somehow, I could feel that I was surrounded by strong powers. A few moments later, the light was gone and the guy and the demons were gone too. I looked at Mylan.
“Someone is helping us.” she said.
“We must get out of here.”
“I can‘t teleport. All my magical powers are gone.” Mylan said.
The door was still open and we headed downstairs. The castle seemed to be empty and a few moments later, we were walking in the garden. No-one stopped us. This castle seemed to be far away from everything and I had no idea how we could survive this. What were we supposed to eat? That night, we slept in the wood. Sleeping on the ground wasn‘t comfortable, but I didn‘t want to go back to that castle ever again. The next morning, when I woke up, the sun was already shining. Mylan was sitting next to me and smiled at me. She seemed quite relaxed and I was really surprised, because last night, she had been upset.
“Good morning.” she said.
For a few moments, I looked at her silently, wondering what had happened since last night. Would she finally take me home? She got up and told me that there was no breakfast. We continued our walk and I hoped to reach a village or a city soon. We walked for hours and hours. I was very tired, but I ignored that because I wanted to eat as soon as possible. After walking all day, we still hadn‘t reached a village or town. I felt terrible and I knew I couldn‘t take this for much longer. I had to lay down for a while. Suddenly, I noticed a nice apple. It was lying on the ground under a tree. I wanted to eat it, but Mylan was hungry too. I looked at her and saw that she was looking up at the tree. The look on her face told me that something was wrong. I looked at the tree and then I saw it. It wasn‘t an apple tree! Then, I looked at the apple again. It was still lying there.
“Maybe it‘s poisoned.” Mylan said.
“I don‘t care.” I said while shrugging my shoulders.
Mylan refused to eat. She didn‘t trust it.
“You‘ll starve.” I told her, but she wouldn‘t listen.
After I had eaten up the apple, I was still hungry. I had a close look around, but there were only trees and bushes. Suddenly, I missed that castle. Actually, that castle had become a vague memory, but I realised that life had been better there. Most of all, I tried not to think about food. Mylan was silent, but I could see that she felt terrible. She looked very pale and very tired. I had eaten up that apple to easily, but it was too late. Next time I found some food, I would certainly share it with her. It wasn‘t dark yet, so I took her hand and we continued to walk.

The next morning, I woke up before Mylan. I could see that it was still very early. I was very tired, but I just couldn‘t sleep anymore. For a few moments, I looked at Mylan. Then, I had a look around. None of the trees in this wood was an apple tree. What kind of wood was this? How much longer would we have to walk? What if this was a magic wood? Perhaps that wizard was making us walk forever. Perhaps this wood didn’t have an end. It was a terrible thought. Later that day, we found another apple.
“We can‘t go on like this for much longer.” I said.
Mylan only shrugged her shoulders. This had to be very painful for her.
“We‘ve got to face the truth.” I said.
“I know...” she nodded.
“We just have to think of something.”
“Think of what?!” she asked sharply.
“Hey. Stay calm.” I said.
“We‘re in big trouble. Can‘t you see?”
“Yes! That‘s why we need to think of something.”
“There‘s nothing we can do.”
“You don‘t know that.”
“Look around! There are only trees and bushes here. There‘s no way we can survive!”
“Someone is helping us.”
I knew it was best to keep walking. We had to get away from that castle as far as possible. Yet, I just stood there. I missed home, I missed T.V. and my videogames. I missed my friends and my family. I wanted my life back. I had been in this world for too long. I looked Mylan in the eye. Then, I decided to keep walking. We kept walking without saying a word. I was extremely hungry and tired and my feet hurt. I don‘t know for how long I walked. The whole situation was so unreal and all those trees looked more or less the same. I didn‘t see any apples. The situation seemed hopeless. Suddenly, I saw a house. I stood still and looked at it. The house was made of wood. Unbelievable! After all this time... I began to walk again, but I was too tired to run. When I finally reached the house, I knocked on the door. Nothing happened. I knocked a second time.
“Hallo?! Anybody there?” I screamed.
“I‘m here.” someone said behind me.
I turned round and saw a strange creature. Her face was very pale. She had big eyes and long, dark hair. She had a close look at me and then smiled.
“Pleased to meet you.” she said.
Then, she opened the door.
“Please, come in.”
I followed her inside. The room was almost empty. Suddenly, Mylan appeared behind me.
The strange woman smiled at her.
“Please, sit down.”
I could see that Mylan was very surprised too. We sat down on a bench and took off our shoes.
“I would love to do more for you, but my magical powers are limited.”
Then, she had a close look at Mylan and I noticed sadness in her big eyes.
“You‘re safe for now, but there isn‘t much I can do.” the woman said.
“Who are you?” Mylan asked.
“My name is Ida.”
I was still very hungry, but we didn‘t get anything to eat.
“You can stay here as long as necessary.” Ida said.
“But how will we survive?” Mylan asked.
“I will give you something to eat. I just have to save my magical powers right now.”
Then, Ida left. I looked at Mylan. She looked very tired and it was terrible to see her like this, so I put my arm around her. We didn’t say a word and a few moments later, I laid down and fell asleep. When I woke up, the sun was shining through the window. Mylan was asleep. I got up and looked at her. I really hoped she would get better soon. Then, I noticed that Ida wasn‘t there. I laid down again and closed my eyes. Our problems weren‘t over yet. Suddenly, the door swung open and Ida entered the room.
“Good morning.” she said.
She smiled at me, but I didn‘t smile back. Then, she had a close look at me and suddenly, a nice meal appeared on the table.
“That‘s for you.” she said.
I got up and started to eat.
“Don‘t eat too fast.” she said.
Mylan woke up.
“I have breakfast for you.” Ida smiled.
Mylan got up slowly. Ida took her arm and led her to the table. I was shocked to see that Mylan was so weak! She also ate slowly. Poor Mylan. After breakfast, I went to have a look outside. The wood was still there. I sat down on the ground and had a look at my feet. My shoes were still inside.
I looked up surprised. How did Ida know my name?!
“I know a lot of things thanks to my magical powers.” she said.
“Do you know how I can get back home?”
“No. I‘m afraid not.”
“Why is it that everyone has magical powers, but no-one knows how I can go back?!”
“Stay calm.”
I shook my head.
“I have to go back.”
“My magical powers have never been very strong.” Ida said.
I nodded.

a little more about your story
I just have one thing to say . . . How in the hell did she end up in some elf dimension? Go back and explain because it leaves me sayin' exactly what I just wrote last sentence. Just a few more things actually. There seems to be to much talkin' and not enough describin'. Characters seem transparent, they have no personality at all. And the last thing I have to say is that I have seen this plot a thousand times.

Sorry If I sounded to harsh but It's true!

Well, I have heard these comments on my stories before. I know that these are my weaknesses. I don't think you have been too harsh. I tried to write a good story and maybe I just tried too hard. Anyway, I WANTED to give my characters more personality, but I didn't know how. It was annoying. I think my characters in my older stories did have some personality, but I wrote them in Dutch. I seem to have lost it. I don't think that my plot is exactly the same as others, because parts of my stories are personal. I used a simple idea, but I also added personal things. Maybe the idea isn't new, but I think a story is more than just an idea.
