Torn from our roots;
Estranged from our ancestors,
family ties loosed,
and scattered to the wind.
Plucked from our heritage,
and stripped of all humanity.
treated like an animal,
bought and sold like property.
No one to turn to
to tell us who we are,
separated from those we left behind
in our native home so far.
It's a shame we don't remember
how noble we used to be.
We were masters of a land
with wealth beyond belief,
who lived with our environment
in peace and harmony.
We built no giant structures,
no feats of technology.
Perhaps living as one with nature
was our greatest legacy.
We must open up our eyes
and allow ourselves to see
the proud and royal people
that we were meant to be.
