How did I get on this rocky road
I don't see a single thing I know to be true
The wind blowing down here is so cold
So why am I traveling
my life unraveling,
ain't no correlation
my heart's pain an indication
That I shouldn't be traveling
with you

You rolled up and put it in first gear
Giving me all your charm
Told me to watch your performance
It wouldn't do me no harm

You smiled and put it in second
Told me to strap myself in
I don't know what I was thinking
By then you were under my skin

Oh Oh -I just don't know what got to me
You were shiny sleek stupefying
as the warning signs flashed on by
Didn't read the ticket I was buying
every word was lying
and now I'm a long way from home

I had doubts when you shifted to third
Spinning out a fine fairy tale
Something about being happy ever after
I was spinning about to hit that rail

How did I get on this rocky road
I don't see a single thing I know to be true
The wind blowing down here is so cold
So why am I traveling.
my life unraveling,
ain't no correlation
my heart's pain an indication
That I shouldn't be traveling
with you.

This ain't the way I should be going
Every turn is the long wrong way
Stop telling me it will all work out
I won't believe a single word you say
I'm outa here today
No matter what you say
There has to be a better way

Why is doing what you love the hardest thing to do? Is it because failing what you thought defined you would be too devastating a thing from which to recover? If so, we stay where mere accident has left us.
