There are some long time users of the site who clearly don't like each other. Instead of ignoring each other they pick fights every chance they get. It's happening on BOTH sides.

It will not be tolerated. I don't care how long you've been a member, how much time you've spent on the site or any of it. The venom and hate around here is thick enough to cut with a night and I won't let Lit.Org be ruined by petty arguments.

ALL parties involved in fighting will find their comments deleted. If necessary, I'll issue a time out (a temporary ban to cool you off) or a permanent one if it gets to that. I hope it doesn't, I hate banning grown people from a web site. It's sad.

If you don't like someone, don't comment on each others work. Don't troll each other. Don't bait each other.

If someone is causing problems then use block or report them. Don't engage them. Period. It doesn't matter if you think you're defending another writer, the site or what, it only makes my job harder. Report the issue and move on.

Either play nice in my house or get out.

I try not to get caught up in the whirlpool ...I'll keep quiet...I love lit too much to want to harm the site..I just don't like to see family fighting...and I feel lit is my second home...

These things happen. My goal is to be fair and create a place that's friendly for everyone. Not just one group or another. There's plenty of room for all of us here.

Confrontation
I'm afraid I must be missing it
or am I just so thick
you'd have to hit me 'round the head
with a bloomin great big stick
before I'd really take offense
youd have to spill my blood
for I just like to write a bit
like every poet should.

I have, however, been thrown off
a previous poety site
for saying things in innocence
the host did not think right
but as far as I remember
I've nevere err'd on Lit
so I hope my English humour
can sometimes find a fit.

I agree that confrontation
should never be allowed
and other people have their views
which they hold tall and proud
but in Rome you act like Romans
or your heading for a fall
and respecting everybody
should make LIT more fun for all!

But I do not think that Banning
is the cure for being rude
It is better far to shoot them
though this may sound quite crude.
But in my house if insulted
I would take away your life
and iI think my brother Eric
would also snatch your Wife!

No seriously Chris, I do not really notice much of the squabbles but have previously criticised another site for the lack of critique on writing skill and presentation, which I agree does seem to be getting less here on Lit.

I think it is the very disagreements you mention that make people afraid to make this style of critique for fear of being seen as making personal attacks on others. The sooner it is stamped out the better.

I must add that I love the way Lit is presented and can only see you suggested modifications as improving this. I am a great believer in looking at writing skill but also the feelins and reactions to the writing. Lit is the ONLY site that I find gives you the ability to do both.

I have avoided a couple because of the over emphasis on criticising every line written!

Amen to that Ivor...I know the site you were talking about...remember????

All would be absolutely fine, if people just observed the ORIGINAL rules laid down by Chris right from the begining...especially NO FLAMING!

Now..let all go down to G's, mingle, quaff a little and laugh at each others foibles. (We can always get a ride home!)and there's always room at the bar!
