I am porcelain, wood, and stuffing, but imprinted on me, is a memory so horrific, it is best to be able to forget. Just like a residual haunting, where a memory is imprinted within time and space, and the spirit is doomed to relive the same memory over and over for eternity, a memory of total devastation has been imprinted upon me. Unlike most things, I know what happened to my small mistress and so many others. Just like a living entity, being imprinted by a horrific memory, well so am I. I didn't ask for a memory to be my prison, something I can never escape, destined to relive the same devastation over and over, seems fate had a hand in this.
Nothing on my being is living, but fate hand picked me to suffer this hell over and over, from a watery oblivion, one in which I will never escape. Lying on the floor of the ocean, in a debris field caused by one of the most horrific maritime tragedy's in history, everyone perished here, see I am beyond finding salvation, there is no one left to help me, so for eternity I guess will be spent here.
So you will understand I must tell you the prelude that led up to this most awful disaster. It was almost a hundred years ago, I was in a gift shop, a shop in South Hampton, England. The shop was among many near the piers. I noticed a man and a little girl. The child was afraid to go on the big ship known as TITANIC. So to ease the child's fears, the man choose me, for my new mistress, so I could help her face her fears. The little girl was so excited and I knew, I had found a home.
My new mistress would take such good care of me, for the short time we had together. She showed me what it was liked to be loved, something I had not experienced until now. For three days, I was pampered, spoiled, and so loved. Then on that last day, everything changed.
It was very late that night, my mistress had just put me to bed and then a terrible noise and a shutter that could not be explained. It was at this time our temporary home, hit an ice berg. Then we start hearing scurrying and what sounded like confusion everywhere. Then a knock at our door, a crew member telling us life boats were being deployed and wrap up warmly as it was so cold outside. The father of my mistress got her ready, my mistress got me ready, then we left our warm cabin, joining the multitudes of panicked people. Then we too started to panic.
My mistress was crying as she realized she would have to leave her father behind. My mistress and I managed to get into a life boat, but we knew no one hear. My mistress was traveling with her father, and all she had was me. She held onto me so tightly. Then we were thrust into the panic and chaos along with all the others.
Our life boat was lowered into the black cold water, and now the memory that plays over and over starts. Sitting in the cold in the life boat, we all of a sudden hear a terrible noise sounding like ropes breaking. Looking up at the doomed ship, we see a smoke stack as it falls coming straight toward us. Then it hit us, flinging me from the arms of my mistress, me hitting the smoke stack it is decapitating me, separating my head from my body. I don't know what happened to my body, but I do know my head landed on the floor of the black cold ocean.
Here my head would come to rest, and it would be eternity. The stuffing in my head soon deteriorated, just leaving my porcelain face staring up to a sun, a world I would never see again. So now just like a residual haunting, I go through that awful memory in history.
I watch from my cold watery grave, watching for my mistress, watching for something to change, but it never would. I am doomed to forever wait for a reprieve that will never come. I witnessed one of the most horrific times in history, and now I am destined to forever live a memory that has been imprinted on me. Staring into a watery abyss, always waiting for an escape, an escape from oblivion.
