Common Sense

In a dimension not known to mankind lived a spark of common sense. Every day he thought to himself that this was the dimension where he must remain, for through the cracks in the dimensional barrier he had seen and heard Mankind. This spark of common sense was sad because he knew deep down in his heart that he was desperately needed in Mankind’s dimension.

However, his father and mother who had been 'raging fires' of common sense had one day left him to enter into Mankind’s dimension but had been rejected and extinguished due to
Mankind’s belief that they already each had their own individual common sense.

Now this poor little spark of common sense lived on within his own dimension but still wondered how Mankind could interpret ‘common’ sense at an individual level. After pondering on this for a long time he decided that he was not, in fact, a spark of ‘common’ sense but he also must be an ember of ‘individual’ sense. Alone in his dimension he could not live with this, and in a moment of 'individual' sense he doused his ember and died.

Common sense now being dead, both in our world and other dimensions, is it possible that maybe one day Mankind may once again rediscover from fire that it is only common sense that stops one getting their fingers burned......

It's all too complicated for me... just have to rely on Instinct

Though you are quite right Ivor it seems to be a rare commodity these days

Ivor
Let me state that this sensitive, sensible, timely piece on common sense is smart, so much that it seems insensible that we need it spelled out for us humans. Mankind at times seems to be in a mental meltdown and often we burn our fingers. Does common sense start with the individual? It's got to start somewhere.
