Apocalyptic Sunset

mystical embrace
circles chants prayers and blood
a small price to pay
the weak shall inherit earth
while the strong conquer heaven

hollow hearts
stones bones and trinkets
slanted smiles
pious mutterings
from fat wolves and snakes

rats have raided the pantry
rabbits are running loose
as the itsy bitsy spider devours the golden goose
rats have raided the pantry
jackals are licking their chops
the fiddler keeps on playing and never ever stops
rats have raided the pantry
rabbits are running loose

as the jackals cackle and bray at the moon…

(end cycle psalm 23- from the journals of The Four Horseman of the Apocalypse)

Appendix C of “The Tangled Tapestry”

nature weeps, the devil sings
at man’s greed and pride
and what it brings

just lots of useless
little things…

"He was the brightest of all the stars
of heaven, and even ripped and torn
in half, he still shone with a fire of a
billion suns. With a mighty roar
and a Big Bang, he imploded and
exploded out of the nothingness; and
the flow of Time began.”

Pen and Triolets

I knew you would get a kick out of this- the last
stanza is- wait for it.... A Toilet oh I mean Triolet- You are a master in that form and showed me how to attempt one- loved the form ever since even though I called my early one toilets which is where they belonged.

The first stanza is 5-7-5-7-7 s count and the second is 3-5-3-3-3 count-

love the forms-

My warmest

Truth be told
by the time I got to the end I was so enraptured I didn't even notice! I just wrote a triolet for that radio host who tops my hit parade. Silly little triolet but she liked it.

I know you won't mind if I post it here.

SHERYL MacKAY - Triolet

Sheryl MacKay is way past okay
Her voice enlightens and brightens
an early weekend radio buffet
Sheryl MacKay is way past okay
She made me feel giddy and gay
like one of BC’s poet titans
Sheryl MacKay is way past okay
Her voice enlightens and brightens

rats have raided the pantry
Funny thing about reading this poem, I just came from reading Pen's blog post and now I will forever associate the two.

Bob, I look forward to the day when I can read the whole book. A morsel here and there is fine because they satiate but the whole meal would be better.
