A lot of writers sent away
and others left by choice.
A lot of comments buried
by censorship's hard voice.
Though squabbles followed squabbles
there's a lot who may return
and I'm sure in human nature
by our battles we can learn?

Would we be a stronger union
if our history could show
that the past that now is dormant
can awake to help us grow.
Can we resurrect our fallen,
can we unbar their IP.
Is it now the time to wonder
if it's time for amnesty.

For Lit's been here for ever
and the troopers stand in line
to hoist again their colours
and bring writing and some rhyme
back to wash the boards with passion
in our chosen literary style
and although we need new lifeblood
let the 'oldies' stay awhile.....

Ivor G Davies

The moment created this second, is a moment that's going to last.
It lives the full spectrum of time, the future, the present and past.

The poets of rhythm
I have only a few poets who I can stand to read when It comes to rhythm: Robert Frost, Beatrice Boyle.... and Ivor Davis. Thank you for this.

It's a good day.

Of Robert Frost and the arts!
Thanks Pablo...I'm sure Ivor is just as honored as I am...Robert Frost is one of my idols...profound thoughts, so simply and elegently said. For my taste, there is no modern poet his equal.

I'm so pleased that I was able to see his original live reading at Pres. Kennedy's inauguration! He was a treasure!

Speaking of that era...Think what you will of the Kennedy's...but they contributed more to the advancement of the arts and culture to this country...and the world....than any other Presidents or highly regarded figures in the world!

Would that we had their like in this world today.
Culture and the arts are a dying breed now that schools have cut back so much on funding them...these children are our future...our future audiences and purveyors of Good Music, paintings and art in general...let's not let them down!

Amnesty plus

From one rhyming fool to another- Bravo.....

Missed reading your rhyming poetry with a story and message.

You piece is spot on on message- no need to throw stones and vent ones anger on the foolishness that took place- it's a new day- a new lit- and new/old and familiar owner. A time for amnesty and moving on...

my warmest

(help Santo Nicola is trying to take over my mind) :)

@ Ivor
Ramshackle, rag-tagged, and bob-tailed lot we poets are! But saner heads will oft prevail! Thanks Ivor for the reminder.

amnesty be damned!
Amnesty - an official pardon for people who have been convicted of political offenses : an amnesty for political prisoners | the new law granted amnesty to those who illegally left the country.
ē an undertaking by the authorities to take no action against specified offenses or offenders during a fixed period : a month-long weapons amnesty.

I don't believe anyone here or anyone who isn't here needs to be pardoned.

I had every one of my posts deleted without me requesting it. I never took offense and didn't blame anyone in control. I just figured whoever did it needed to do something illogical to scratch whatever itch was vexing them. Some of those posts were Write Offs which should have been designated as off limits due to their encompassing nature. I didn't spiral into a paroxysm of paranoia either. I just stayed away for a spell hoping that it would be resolved without me doing a raving rant. And you know what? It was!

However, I like the rest of the poem Ivor and agree with the sentiment .. just not with the amnesty bit.

Thank you all for your comments and opinions. It is a fact of life that without some amnesties or the reasons behind them that it would be imposible to resolve any issues and move towards a peacful exsistance.

Should black people still reject all whites because of the slave trade.

Should Ireland and Britain still be at war because of the atrocities we have caused each other.

When both sides think they are right, they probably are! One man's meat is another man's poison. All religions of the world preach forgiveness, unless we forgive each other and try to understand the reasons for our 'individual' behaviour we will ALWAYS be at loggerheads.

Amnesty has a much stronger meaning than the dictionary gives it.... it is a state of mind and unless we are prepard to forgive, learn and accept others do not always agree with us there would appear to be no way forward.

And anyway, I always look for the plank in my eye before I condemn the actions of others. This can be a hard lesson as I usually find that it is me who caused the problem in the first place.

Doesn't stop me speaking my mind though and I appreciate that others are also prepared to stand up for what theybe lieve is right!

Thanks again to all of you for looking at this one....

Amnesty International
Hey Ivor, that's one word that irks me for the way it's used. I've had debates on the street in London with the good folk who use that as their banner and .. well .. so on it goes. Admire their deeds regardless.

Have you mentioned details about the second book of poetry that you published, did you return to the Chester Poetic Society (or whatever name they meet under)to give it an airing ?

My doubting Thomas! doubting Thomas is!

Good to see ya Eric...I'm STILL older since the last time we met...HONEST!! lol

Ae you coming back to the fold or just popping in!

Thats True
Thats true we are all get older as time passes....

It was Ivor verse here that had me wondering if I could log in after being Banned.....

It is also fact that each one of us here has a unique past.

I will always prefer Fact to Fiction, Truth to Lies, But Bloody Hell it's getting harder to separate. Just hope I reach heaven before the Devil knows I am Dead

The Terror of Poetry

Good to hide behind the wall ???
then throw a brick or two
Whatís good for one is good for all
be nice if one hits you
Good to stand up to your word!
I always do that too
Then I am Eric Davies
who the bloody hell are you?

When poetic terror raises head
I don't shrink back in fear!
Just yawn a bit and go to bed
Some folk are bloody queer!
Gone are the dayís I were a lad
With silly excuses for being bad
Though I didnít hide behind my dad
I laughed at others that were SAD

So just a guy with little fame
proud to use his given name
Wish other folk would do the same
Life would be a fairer game
This might be just boring rhyme
Just a way of wasting time
Regardless though Iím feeling fine
When still the name I use is Mine

Hello Fairplay,
Your name "Fairplay" denotes the famous sire of "Man O' War," which is of particular interest to me as

My mother when a small girl was allowed to visit Man O' War and each school child got to pet him.

At the end of this petting, my mother would run as fast as she could and get back in line to pet him again....

Thanks for bringing back fond memories...

Davies Ties
By name I hold my head up high,
of my family name I'm proud.
You may even choose to like us,
for choices are allowed.

As one of nine, my parents taught
that families should stand tall,
and stick together, right or wrong,
all for one..... and one for all!

We are very different people
on that we all agree.
Six brothers and two sisters
and in the middle... me!

Eric is my brother,
you can see by his last name.
I know he says he's 'Fairplay'
but he like's to win the game.

So with very different methods
we pursue and aim and and shoot,
but like all of our family
we are really both quite cute....

So be gentle with your critique
don't mistake the things we say.
We are really here to please you,
we just do it our own way!

Fairplay Lemme Know
"I am Eric Davies
who the bloody hell are you?"

I'm what's-her-name, who is sending you this whatchamacallit , because I think whoever you are, would enjoy whatever-this-is.

Nice One
Yes have to watch the old memory... Linda is watching Beryl closely Ivor whereas I am counting up to 83yrs DD day as a rough guide... with such a big family surely these are "Pointers"

I liked the Phantom Judy. I use the name Seivadle on Youtube because it is unique unlike Eric Davies 's who are all over the WWW..... If you have a spare decade type my intials and surname backwards in any search engine It wont quite come up with "I've got friends in low places" or "Blame it all on my Roots" But you will see I am quite harmless.....

I was really spellbound as I have never seen dogs in church before and just for a second I thought, "Be funny if I showed up with my Tom Cat named Loretta.

I'm going to look at all of your videos.."VELLY INTERESTING" thanks again
