fires of time

prodigy of stars
hot galaxies
shifting plates
Adamís seed
Osiris, Jesus
Mohammed, Crusades
Muslim, Christian
Mongolian tirades

does anyone win
does anyone lose
the fires of time
are on the move

Romans fall
killer plagues
Pontiffs sleep
Dark Ages rage
tribal wars
Silken roads
Inquisition
Renaissance gold

parody hides
satanís news
the fires of time
are on the move

yet all that matters
in the end, we know
the winds of
truth and wisdom blow
with words of sages
the earth of ages
calling her children
to come back home

slaves in chains
witches burn
beheaded queens
new nations churn
wall street greed
Depressionís blight
Emperorís sun
Hitlerís Reich

does anyone win
does anyone lose
the fires of time
are on the move

Tina's lyric
As said elsewhere, this is action packed and imagery filled..

timely, too

Its compression (minimizing verbiage), maximizes impact

Ah yes, indeed the guillotine wa,s almost exclusively resered in mainland Europe for the rich and powerful, because it was believed to be the most humane of execution at the time.

Try telling that to Marie-antoinette, who flopped around the execution site for nearly 10 minutes looking for her head. One of my favorite subjects, and Marie-Antoinette would be a perfect Poe like story indeed I have done several poems about her.

She was not ever as bad as her media based she has been presented to us. But she did eat pom-poms and drink champaigne in a parade one afternoon. LOL

In my oppinion this poem starts out a little "listy" but developes into a firey and excellent piece of history, and history in our literature is ALWAYS good thing. Good work. While George Washington did his work in the Colonies, poor Marie just lost her head...

Everybody knows about Marie-Antoinette, but who knows who her husband was? See Subject

upbeat?
Yes, Judy...the lyrics are meant to flow fast. i was trying to represent the old adage "time flies" (moves). And yes...Billy Joel "We Didn't Start the Fire" came to mind after i wrote it!

You are welcome. I just wannted to add that as a song this very unusual. You may have created another genre. ;) I really enjoyed this. Setting the bar once again!

thanks again, ken..
don't know if it's a new genre...could be rap
;-)

rap
Hey Tina - I thought rap immediately! I really liked this and while I'm not a huge rap fan I do like how they carry rhymes throughout for the most part. The ones that don't ... well .. they don't have the same impact for me.
