I hate the days.
not the leisurely kind,
that seem to stretch out,
with as many hours before,
as there are behind.

No, it's the days between,
that no matter the pace,
you can't seem to make ends.
And after you've done your dues,
the hours are gone, without a trace.

It's like that with years, too.
Seemingly faster, one by one.
Slipping away before you realize.
Some wasted, some savored.
None too long before it's undone.

But without those days...
The awful ones between.
Would the others seem so sweet?
So that we stretch them out,
holding on for eternity, so it seems.

No, the days don't matter.
Not those, anyway.
But the moments captured,
a shimmering vestige,
that we take with us, away.

Right On!
Eloquently put,Chris. While you're living it, time seems to "drone" on in seemingly endless days and nights. Suddenly, when you look back on it, time was but a millisecond in your existance!

But the scrapbook of your mind, while of course, capturing treasured moments, inexplicably also contains snippets of inconsequential minutia, of long forgotten moments, that leap into your Consciousness, when you least expect it! Good Job!!
