SEEKING INFORMATION ON REPUTABLE BOOK COVER DESIGNERS AND EDITORS
I was not sure if placing this under rants would get a quicker response or not. Please do not be offended if it does not apply to the category I really need help with this area and information and I did not know where else to place it~ Thank you!

Hello fellow writers~ I am seeking information on any reputable book cover designers, as well as editors. If you know of any please tell my about your personal experience with them or if someone you know has had a great experience that you would like to share. I also would like to hear about any companies that you have not had great experience with so that if it is someone I am looking at I will have a little history. Please be honest, and pass any contact information including websites that you have over as well so that I can get in touch with the company. I thank you so kindly for your time and support.

Seeking
THis is a tough one. I have been on much the same quest. I finished to novels in a series and sit here staring at a stack of rejection letters - I was a litle depressed but the truth is I don't believe a single agent or publiusher read any thing a sent past the mini-synopsis that I included. The responses were more telling about the economy and the state of traditional publishing.(The novels are multi-genred) I have looked at vanity publishing, which may be an option. Sandra (our Majestic
editor) suggested on-line self-publishing.There are several good ones. I liked the software - it is all on the writer to layout, design, and promotion - but it is a way. I'm traveling now so I don't have the site urls - when I get a moment I'll send them off to you. I know this wasn't much help- just wanted to let you know that your not alone.
I trust that God will have the universe line up for both of us.
The best to you,
Ken

If this helps...

My friend has her book out if you are interested I will ask her for answers to your questions and send you a PM...

But please know Lisa said this is her first and last book....as it took her a lengthy amount of time.....in years....

All good wishes for you ...and just so you know I have enough rejects to wallpaper my house.....and then I got on with the newspaper and was happy for 12 years...until I got bored.....

Thank you JonPenny and Jetfirek
Thank you for responding. I decided to self publish because I have been working on this fiction novel for almost three years and I have heard so many discouraging stories about publishing agencies. I searched online for a reputable editor to help polish my manuscript and typeset but I'm not so sure I can go off the stuff I see on the websites. I also need a book cover developer to help create the right book cover for my novel.

@ Jonpenny I definitely wish you the best. Keep me posted on that book! I believe Sandra is right- the market for writers have changed. More writers are getting exposure for their work by publishing their own material. I decided to self publish, I'm taking a leap of faith!

Thank you again

an artist
I have a friend who's an artist, and did a couple of my book covers. He's very reliable, meticulous, etc., though I suppose you have no way of knowing that. His name is Jason Jansky, and I'm Sean Nelson. He's just out of animation school and eager for artistic work.

Here are links to a couple covers he did for me:

cover art
These are vibrant and exciting graphics, will there be a softcover book of either one? I will have to check out what the books are, have not, yet.

I did my own covers for all 4 of mine, the most recent WRITING SONNETS FOR YOU FRIENDS AND SOUL MATES, was just released 2 days ago. Here is a link to see what I did and how I handled the artwork. I took the photogracs and did the layout and everything. My logic is that anyone who can write a book can certainly do a most effective cover if they just work at it, partly because they know more about what the book is all about than anyone. My other logic, "NEVER TAKE THE CRITICS SERIOUSLY, THEY ARE JUST GUESSING."
