Rows of frostbitten trees
Retaining equanimity
The light subdued
Obscured in an aquamarine mist

The wind's edge penetrates bone
Visciously announcing the end of simplicity

The call of the temptuous
Revel in ill gotten gains
Plentiful provisions of isolated comforts
Inclinations to a ubiquitous avoidance

Porous anthems dictated from a straw pulpit
Open wounds unstitched by interpretation
Bound hands at ease in prayer
Soiled martyrs produced in effigy

The image of equality paid for in blood
The illusion of freedom preempted by struggle
No longer for the people
Our Republic has failed us

Very good
this has a wonderful rhythmic quality- I like it. A bit over my head though- then again most good poetic works go over my head. Still, I like this.

Great linguistic dexterity - adroit. 4th stanza rocks! Thanks!
